When we do drills, regardless of what drill it is, I get my girls to
yell out "1, 2" to coincide when their feet hit the ground. Whichever
foot is number 1 (the first grounded foot) cannot be moved, but foot
number 2 can be moved as much as they like.
I found that if I ask one of the girls, once they had just caught the
ball, which foot landed first, they couldn't tell me as they hadn't
been noticing. This simple activity seems to make them think about
their feet when they are catching the ball.
