hi
Make sure in the game, give them specific instruction, such as, I want you
all to at least make 5 forward leads to the ball in this quater. I have
found this has worked.
At training try to show them to lead forward but also to move forward if
close to a thrower and then dart back to the space behind them. This is
great for girls who find they are against someone who is faster than them.
I ahve a saying that I use with my A grade teams to my sub Junior teams.
"Use the opposition strengths against." I make all my sub Junior and junior
teams tell me in one of the quaters what was a strength of a player they
were playing against and how did they use it against them in the quater.
Sometimes you I don't know what to do, help her out and advise her. I
discuus at the beginning of training with the girls what they did and them
suggest how others can handel that player. Sometimes I let them go to
oneside and show the player what they did and teach it if they can. I try
to get them to think on the court what they need to do instead of getting
beaten for a whole quater.
Make sure you praise the answers and don't down them if they get it wrong.
Enen if it comes off once praise them for that and having a go.
Hope this helps.
