Hi all,
The activity below is from my coaching manual. www.cancoach.com.au and it is one
of my favourites.
Another favourite for fixing your problem is explained in the 'other resources'
section of the netball section in the above web site.
Enjoy

Subject: RE: [netballcoaching] Breaking Forward
Hi all
I have an activity where I divide the centre third into 5 areas (using
chalk). 4 players then need to feed the ball thru the 5 different areas,
*always* sending the ball to the "free" space.
It is imperative that you stress to them the importance of utilising
that "free" space as that is ultimately the purpose of the activity.
They need to be talked through the drill and it can take a while for the
kids to get it, but once they do it is great to see.
Any time I call to them to use the space when they are on the court they
think back to that activity - I have found that it has made a real
difference to their understanding.
You can then add a defender or two to spice things up - they then really
have to think as there are extra bodies out there. This can then teach
the defenders to be on their toes and read the play - they start to
think about where the ball is going to end up!
Good luck!
Fiona

Subject: [netballcoaching] Breaking Forward
Hi guyz.
Just wondering if anybody had any ideas i could try out on my team of
13/14 year olds.
They r not breaking forward for the ball. They all want to stand
behind their players and pass the ball over the top of the players. To
many passes are getting intercepted by doing this.
Does anybody ahve any ideas i can try to get them to come forward and
use the space rather then dropping back all the time???
Thanks for any help u can provide me
