RE: [netballcoaching] New Netball Club - Palmerston Crocs - Darwin - Northern Territory

Hi there. What you need is some free publicity. The best way to get this
is to write a 'press release' and submit it to all the local newspapers,
radio and television. If you can find someone in your folds with either PR
experience, or journalism experience, that will help a lot.

With the press release, you should also include an idea for a photo
opportunity, or, if you have access to a good photographer, send in a photo
with your press release.

As a non profit organisation, you should also be able to get some free
airtime on the TV, in the newspaper, and on radio as well. It's law that a
percentage is donated to non profit organisations.

You should also do up a flyer, or smaller press release for the local
schools newsletters. The less work they have to do, the better.

To try and make the press releases get a bit more media attention, you could
make your sign on day a training camp for potential players, and organise
your best coaches/umpires to be there and take round robin sessions. AND,
if you're really good, get some sort of well known netballer, or coach to
this day... if you're REALLY, REALLY good, get a whole team.

There's a million and one other things you can do too... but get the press
release written ASAP - and make sure it's written to journalistic standards
- that makes it much more attractive to the newspapers, as they can use it
as is, without having to change anything. If your writing isn't up to par,
there's a chance that they won't use it - too much work.

.... oh... and some advice ... always have 2 sets of different coloured
bibs.. just in case you're so popular you have 2 teams in the same
division....

Good Luck!!!

Michelle
