From acmilan.com dated 16.1.07
NESTA: He is in the United States working with physical therapists
and his situation is being evaluated in Miami with the doctors. The
objective is to get him in the best physical condition possible. He
is doing well. He is happy and so are we. We hope to see him on the

will be ready for the Champions League, but if there is any risk then
we prefer to wait.

(Thank you anitafranc, whoever you may be.)

I guess that explains why he didn't show up for the presentation of
the Cavaliere Ufficiale awards then! (And there I was making up my

Anyway, a belated Happy New Year to anyone still out there, and let's

Hi Ming, welcome back, I have to admit, the evening I posted, I was
pretty irritated. Could you tell? Where is CA, I haven't seen anything
from her, and I miss Junko. I loved it when you all were posting,
however some members are pretty good at posting and I love reading
their postings. Usually I have nothing to say since I haven't seen any
games, but I love the game reports,so to those members I say "KEEP IT
UP". Thanks Ming for taking care of this site. Jo Jo

Hi JoJo,

I am sure you have heard of SPAM.

I don't consider all those people advertizing dating services (or
worse) "members" of this group. They most probably have never heard of
Sandro Nesta and may not even know anything about football. They are
SPAMMERS! And I suspect they just mass-register and mass-mail in any
group with a certain number of members. In this regard, the MODs are a
victim of its (past, unfortunately) success.

I don't know if there is any anti-spam function on Yahoo groups. If
anyone discovers one and know how to use it, please let me know.

I try to delete spam messages as soon as I can. (Members who receive
messages by e-mail can try their e-mail systems' anti-spam function.)
Unfortunately, I am the only moderator still visiting and posting on
the MODs. As I said, I have been travelling for the past 6 weeks and
had very limited on-line time, so the spam has piled up. I would love
to ban any "member" who post spam, but unfortunately, again, only the
owner can ban members and I don't have that authority. Any member
annoyed with the spam can take this issue to Junko the owner when and
if she returns to these groups.

In the mean time, I will try to do a timely clean up job now that I am
home again.

I am so happy for Alessandro and Gabriela. So wonderful to have a new
born baby! I hope the baby is healthy, and I wish Sofia will have

give her that.

Here is the news from ACMilan.com about Nesta's readyness to start the
season.

NESTA: 'I am back again'
8/29/2006
MILANELLO - Alessandro Nesta spoke to the Milan Channel about his
fitness: 'I picked up the injury in the World Cup against the Czech
Rpeublic, I was in form and felt good so it was disappointing to miss
the two best games, against Germany and the final against France. I
played two games so I felt part of the triumph. I wanted to play
against the Germans but needed more time. Now I am back and we'll see
if I can play in the TIM Trophy.' As for the main objectives: 'This
club was born to win the Champions League but we will be chasing every
target.'

Although Nesta was not able to play due to injury, Milan beat Red
Star Belgrade on Tuesday 2-1 (goals by Pippo and Seedorf), to
eliminate the Serbian team on an aggregate score of 3-1, and enter
the CL proper. So those members who can only watch the CL but not
serie A can still get to see Nesta play in the coming season. :-)

The draw for the CL group phase was made on Thursday. Milan get a
group that look easy, on paper at least:

Group H
Milan
Lille
AEK Athens
Anderlecht

But Milan do have the annoying habit of struggling against "smaller"
teams. I hope they take these opponents seriously, and tie up first
place in the group as soon as possible so the first team can then
concentrate on making up the 8 point deficit in serie A, while the
reserves get a chance to get some European action.

Link to the full draw:

Forza Nesta!
Forza Milan!

training in the gym separately from his teammates ever since, and

But on Saturday, he was able to train with the main group.

Here is the training blurb from acmilan.com:

MILANELLO - Training started at 4.30pm CET, with a keep-ball session
and there was a crosses and shots drill. Nesta and Kaladze traine
with squad although Bonera did not.

The decisive CL qualifier 2nd leg in Belgrade is this coming Tuesday.
I am not sure if Nesta and Kaladze will be fit in time to take part
in this game. Although leading 1-0, Milan is in no way in a
comfortable situation going into the 2nd leg, especially palying with
a make shift backline and at Red Star's notorious stadium. While I
know this game is extremely important to Milan's season, I am not
sure if I want Nesta (or Kaladze) to be risked. Given Nesta has
suffered a few relapses of his groin injury (the last one of which,
suffered on June 20 and prevented him from taking part in the rest of
Italy's successful world cup campaign, is still bothering him 8 weeks
later!), he risks suffering another major relapse if he takes to the
competitive field before he is 101% recovered and in good form; but
then his team needs him desparately.....

I hope the Milan doctors are taking good care of him.....

Get well soon, Sandro; and

We don't have "a" picture. We have hundreds of pictures in the 6 MOD
groups.

Go check out the photo section of the groups. You can find photos of
Nesta with hair of different lengths, from different ages (from age
3, age 10, age 16, age 22 and every year since then), from different
angles.......

Take your pick.....

Well, Brocchi isn't exactly a defender, but before Milan signed
Bonera, Ancelotti has talked about converting him into a rightback as
Cafu's backup, since he has been a right-sided midfielder who can run
up and down the right sideline all day long, can tackle and can put
in crosses. Serginho can't play on the right side; and with a
converted right-winger as a rightback, a make-shift central defense,
I suspect Jankulovski, who is considered a better defensive player
than the attack-minded Serginho, is preferred in the leftback slot.

Of course the "probable" line-up is just speculation (it was the
defensive line-up in last week's friendly against a serie C team, I
think). We'll know by game time, but the choices are slim.

:D He had great games last season as a left back,

Nesta was back at Milanello about a week ago, as were all his
international teammates on world cup duty. But he has been training
separately because he still hasn't fully recovered from the groin
injury (and the relapses) he suffered during the world cup campaign.

You most probably know by now that Milan will be allowed to take part
in the CL, but have to start in the 3rd qualifying round. They will
play Red Star Belgrade at the San Siro on August 9, and in Belgrade 2
weeks later. Nesta will definitely miss the first leg. Maldini,
Kaladze and Simic are also injured, while Cafu had to stay in Brazil
for longer than expected because of "family matters" and is not match
fit yet. New signing Bonera carries with him a one match European
suspension from his Parma days. So Milan's defensive situation looks
pretty desparate, if you ask me. The back four for the CL qualifier
will likely be : Brocchi, Costacurta, Favalli and Jankulovski!

Well, good luck Milan; and
get well soon, Sandro!

What I find strange though is that Morabito (i.e. Nesta's agent) is
a Fifa agent and a rival of GEA according to GdS at least
(http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/SerieA/Primo_Piano/2006/05_Maggio/09/g
ea.shtml). I thought that Nesta was represented by GEA.

I just read the following article on channel4 and thought I might as
well post it here. The whole article is very speculative and I'm not
sure what to make of it. I wouldn't and obviously couldn't say that
a possible return to Lazio is out of the question but I still think
that it is unlikely to happen in the next couple of seasons as his
agent predicts.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Lazio return for Nesta, says agent

Milan defender Alessandro Nesta will end his career at hometown club
Lazio, his agent has confidently predicted.

The Italian international stopper was considered as a Lazio symbol
after graduating through the youth ranks and winning the Scudetto
with the side in 2000.

He was tipped to be a one-club man before the outfit's severe
financial difficulties saw him leave the capital for Milan in August
2002.

But Vincenzo Morabito has revealed that Nesta could one day return
to the club which is unquestionably in his heart.

"Nesta's proposed reunion with Lazio is more than a hope," Morabito
told Italian radio station Radio Incontro.

"I'm convinced that in two years, or possibly even at the end of
next season, that this move could happen.

"It would allow Nesta to end his playing days in Rome and allow
Lazio to aim for some bigger objectives."

It's unclear how some sections of the Biancocelesti public will
react to the possibility of a Nesta comeback.

Although he remains one of Italy's top defenders, he has been jeered
on his return to the Olimpico with the Rossoneri.
