Nesta back in training
Tuesday 27 February, 2007

Alessandro Nesta is expected to be back in action next month after
the injured Milan defender returned from America.

The former Lazio man has been recuperating from a shoulder injury in
Miami recently, a problem which has seen him sidelined since November
26.

"I'm finally feeling good, my shoulder has healed completely and I
hope I will be back on the field of play in two or three weeks," said
Nesta after landing in Italy on Tuesday.

"Now I only want to focus on training.

"I was operated on by one of the best surgeons in the world and I
chose Miami because they have a very famous rehabilitation centre,"
continued the World Cup winner.

"The recovery time should have been even longer, but I think I'm
close to returning to action.

"This has been a hard year for me, with many injuries, now I want to
return to the highest levels as soon as possible."

Nesta also reiterated that he wants to stay at Milan despite
widespread rumours suggesting that he might return to Lazio.

"I already spoke to the management a few months ago and I told them
that I wanted to stay, but I didn't want to discuss the details
before recovering from my injury," he added.

"Milan know that I am ready to sign a new deal, now I want to recover
my best condition and then we will sit down and talk.

"I don't want to go back to Lazio, I like it here and this is where I
want to end my career," concluded Nesta.

NESTA RETURNS
2/27/2007 2:52:00 PM
Alessandro Nesta has returned from the United States and he can't
wait to get back on the pitch with his team

It was a forced exile to find his top condition, but Alessandro Nesta
is back with the team and he has a strong desire to get back on the
pitch as soon as possible. The Rossoneri defender worked with his
team-mates this morning at Milanello. The squad started by warming
up, then worked on speed and played a training game. Sandro will have
his last visit with doctor Taverna this afternoon and the doctor
could give him the green light.

Nesta is feeling positive upon his return and he said: `I am doing
well. My shoulder is ok. I still have to recover a bit of my
condition. When the coach puts me in I will be ready. It will
probably take about another ten days. I must work especially on speed
and sprints and then we'll face the training games.'

Alessandro confirmed that he has had his thoughts focused on the
Rossoneri even when he was on the other side of the ocean: `I always
followed the team. I woke up early in the morning because of the time
difference. I have been following the games since I was a kid. I must
say that the team have improved a lot since the start of the season
and we will just keep on improving from here. I am coming back to two
great guys like Massimo Oddo and Ronaldo. I can't wait to be able to
return and make my contribution.'

Looking forward to seeing Nesta back in competition,

Ming
