At the recent "wash-up" meeting for the 2008 series, the question was raised of
cancellation policy.
The 2009 series rules will have a specific clause on how cancellations are
handled; but we could not reach a consensus on what that clause should say.
Would competitors prefer any cancellation, due to weather or water conditions,
to be declared on the day before the event; thus avoiding travel, cost and
wasted time, but risking the posibility that it turns out to be a wonderful day
for rowing because the forecast was wrong?
OR
Would competitors prefer any cancellation to be declared on the day, as late as
possible. Thus giving the event every chance of running and allowing the host
club to sell at least some of the food it has prepared?
We would value all comments and views on the subject; preferaby within the next
week so that we can finalise the 2009 series rules at the next NRC exec.
