I have just received some more wonderful stuff (about James Renforth) which I
have
now added to the Northern Rowing Timeline at
http://www.hastie.org.uk/nern/rowhist/index.html
(When I get more time (Ha!), I will start to add pics and prints and all the
fancy stuff)
This information has been provided as a result of research and fact finding by
Ian
Whitehead of Tyne & Wear Museums who is launching a new book later this year
which features James Renforth. More details follow.
Iam sure the autobiography will be of great interest to budding rowing
historians
when I see entries like:
"Joins an East India Company regiment and sails as part of the relieving force
for the Indian
Mutiny
"Won a gold medal for swimming at Northumberland Baths. Walked to Talkin Tarn to
take
part in a swimming race. Lost."
"Assault charge against Renforth heard in Newcastle Court after attack on man in
spirit bar.
Found guilty and fined."
and much more besides!
We await the new book with anticipation...
