Subject: The Corporate Games - Newcastle, June 2003
To: ken@...

I don't know if you have already been contacted by the RNLI, but I
said I would email you about the Corporate Games, due to be held in
Newcastle this June.

A guy called Michael Charlton (from the RNLI) approached me last
week. The Corporate Games will be staged in Newcastle this summer. The
official Charity is the RNLI. The RNLI want to put out a couple of
crews in the dragon boat racing event. All they need is man power. I
have put him in touch with the Universities Sailing club and the
Athletic Union as well as liasing with the boat club. I have to bring
up the subject at our next committee meeting, but I think the problem
will be that although we would be more than willing to help, the
timing isn't that good - what with the end of term, Durham and then of
Course Marlow and Henley Regattas.

I think this is where you come in. If you know of any clubs/people
(can be two volunteers up to twenty or so), that would be interested,
maybe you could be in touch with him.

Michael Charlton (Area Organiser RNLI) can be contacted as follows for any
information:

mcharlton@... tel: 01423 881000

On Monday 17th March, there is an introduction to the corporate games
being held at St. James Park. I will definatly be going to this, along
with hopfully some other university representitives.

The games are bigger than those of the Commonwealth and are supposed
to be tremendous fun to take part in.

Best Wishes

Gill Harris (NUBC)
