They seemed to give up on this season early on by trading good players for
Superdraft pics. Maybe next year will get some good players that work better as
a team.
I've been following this franchise since I
returned to North America (after a time in Africa) in '97.
I have to ask: is this franchise ever going to be
anything more than mediocre? They've always been a side
that works hard but just doesn't have much talent,
flow or mesh. I don't know what it is but I'm tired of
the mediocrity. It's not just that we're mediocre,
it's that there's no indication that management has
any interest in making the team competitive. I'm not
a front-runner. I like the Red Sox for heaven's
sakes. But none of the sides I follow in any sport has
been as seemingly content with mediocrity as the Revs.
What's the solution?
The Kansas City Wizards scored a pair of second
half goals and withstood an injury time tally by
Mauricio Wright to hold on for a 2-1 victory over the New
England Revolution tonight before 13,141 at Foxboro
Stadium. The loss snapped a five game Revolution unbeaten
streak. The Revs will stay at home for two games in the
next week. On Wednesday, in the third round of the
U.S. Open Cup they will host the Charleston Battery at
7:30 p.m. Next the team will take on D.C. United on
Saturday, July 14 at Foxboro Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
The Revolution played the Dallas Burn on a hot
night in the Cotton Bowl, and the Burn established
early on that they were in control of the game. Though
the Revs often seemed out of sync, they held the
persistent Burn to one goal; the match ended in a 1-1
dealock, and both teams retired with a single point.
The New England Revolution announced yesterday
that it will host the San Jose Earthquakes on
Wednesday, August 8th at 7:30 PM at Foxboro Stadium in the
make up match of the June 30th rained out game. Any
tickets or ticket stubs from the June 30th match will be
honored on the August 8th date.
They were to great games. The US easily won 3-0.
The Revs started out behind 2-0 but then scored 2
goals and a 3rd in the 88th minute. Then the Rapids
scored with 1 minute left of stopage time. It remained
tied in overtime with a final score of 3-3
It should be interesting night of soccer with the first place US team vs.
Trinidad and Tobago and The Revs vs. Colorado lets hope the both win. I can't
wait till the 20th.
