I would like to hook up. Although this weekend doesn't work for me, next week is
a possibility. How far is Gilgo anyway?

Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself to the group!
Anyone heard of Kiteflix? It's my brother's website and he just re-

Hello all- I am going to be moving to rhode island from CT, and was
wondering if anyone that lived in RI could tell me where some of the
good places to kite were. I noticed that there were some restrictions
around Newport, Tiverton and Sakonnet (especially in the summer
months). Are there restrictions in western RI as well? (Misqumicut,
Matunuck, Point Judith, Narragansett, etc.) Thanks for all your help!
-Dan
Thanks for the tips...will join the other group. Separately, I have a
car and will drive out east in Long island from the city to kite.
Heading to Port Jeff on Saturday and will head out on Sun and Monday
too. Will chose location depending on winds and wind direction. If
anyone wants to make a trip give me a shout. I also know some guys out
in LI who offer classes at pretty competitive prices. Email me at
fouad.ahmed@...
Happy Kiting!

Hi Elena et al
First of all, Elena, if you're looking for people to go kiteboarding with in
the NY area you should join the NYCKitesurfers group here on Yahoo groups.
There's a very large and vibrant kiteboarding community in this area, and
there are always people looking for others to hit the water with. That group
has many more members than NEKS and has way more traffic. Also wanted to let
you know that you should consider flying down to Hatteras. What with the
price of gas and all. Airtran has very cheap flights from LaGuardia to
Newport News (which is then a 2 hour drive from Hatteras). My girlfriend
and I are going down the same weekend as you are. We booked our flights for
$120 roundtrip. I know she's looking for other women to kiteboard with
around here.

it is a 10 hour drive. So it is a weekend thing. leave Friday afterwork come
back Monday early morning. We can take an overnight bus and I can ask
someone over there to pick us up and we can rent a car there. The individual
lesosns are 200 but they are well worth it. You get at most 2 ppl in your
group and full jetsky support. If you can't make it now you should definetly
go sometime in the future I had a blast.

Does anyone live in the city and meetup to go kiteboarding somewhere. Just
came back from a camp in OBX. Can only go one way for now, so going back for
a refresher the weekend of the 18th, but after that would love to go with
people locally. I would be interested in renting a car and carpooling up to
NC the weekend of the 18th if I can get three people to come with me,
otherwise I'll take a bus. http://www.realkite boarding. com/
There is a girls camp that weekend and I think a zero to hero one, plus just
lessons. Nice laid back atmosphere and I think camp rooms that are not
terribly expensive.
Let me know if you are interested.

Ah thats great! Well have fun! I don't have any water equipment, i
have a full land frenzy quiver. But being here in the city is
forcing me to look into the water situation more and more. Thanks
for all the info. Hopefully I can manage a trip down south, sounds
like a blast and a great school.

I was at long beach this weekend on sunday playing volleyball.
I saw a kite in the air about the size you would use for landboarding.
Now which part of the beach can you use for kiteboarding/landboarding?
Is there a particular area where your allowed to launch. Its a pretty
popular beach with lots of people in the water...

Oh wow thats a longer drive than i would have thought. Sounds like
a great time though. I don't know if i can swing the trip at this
point, maybe in a month like early september. Doesn't sound too
expensive though, i assume everything is included, kite, suite and
all that. I am going to try and go up to long beach this weekend to
check out the beach up there for landboarding. It was mentioned
earlier in this thread. If you want to join (assuming weather and
tides are favorable) you are more than welcome, i think i am

it is a 10 hour drive. So it is a weekend thing. leave Friday afterwork come
back Monday early morning. We can take an overnight bus and I can ask someone
over there to pick us up and we can rent a car there. The individual lesosns are
200 but they are well worth it. You get at most 2 ppl in your group and full
jetsky support. If you can't make it now you should definetly go sometime in the
future I had a blast.

am interested for sure. I guess cost is the biggest thing. I might be able to
get a car from a friend. Ive never been out on the water, ive only been on land,
but i would be interested in a lesson. How much do they cost usually? The other
question is if it is a one day trip, or is it too far? How long of a drive is
it?

Does anyone live in the city and meetup to go kiteboarding somewhere. Just came
back from a camp in OBX. Can only go one way for now, so going back for a
refresher the weekend of the 18th, but after that would love to go with people
locally. I would be interested in renting a car and carpooling up to NC the
weekend of the 18th if I can get three people to come with me, otherwise I’ll
take a bus. http://www.realkite boarding. com/
There is a girls camp that weekend and I think a zero to hero one, plus just
lessons. Nice laid back atmosphere and I think camp rooms that are not terribly
expensive.
Let me know if you are interested.

Hi ,
I just moved to Long Beach, NY and almost everyday there is an afternoon
south wind so there like 2 or three kites surfing along the shore. you have
to come after 5:30 or 6pm when the lifeguards are living.
It's only 50 min ride on the LIRR from Pen Station.

I have been living in NYC for just over a year now and have been
looking for a beach or upland area good for landboarding that is
withing a few hours drive of NYC. If anyone knows of such a place i
would greatly appreciate the advise. Thanks for the help!

The weather & water have finally warmed up & I know everyone's stoked
to get back out on the water! I would like to shout out a big welcome
to the many new kiters I've seen out there lately. I also want to take
this opportunity to remind everyone the need to kite with caution if
you're still learning. We saw many beginners this weekend attempt to
learn in on-shore wind, some having been told that a particular spot
was good for beginners. We need to get the word out that ON-SHORE WIND
IS A NO-NO FOR BEGINNER KITERS. Beaches where the predominant wind
direction is on-shore should NOT be considered good for beginners. New
kiters who attempt to ride in on-shore wind are putting themselves, the
numerous beach goers, and the sport itself at high risk for serious
injury. Side shore or side-on wind is what a beginner kitesurfer needs,
or even better is side-off or off-shore wind for the kiter with boat or
jetski support. So please keep this in mind as we celebrate the
holiday week & head into summer. Thanks & have a safe & super fun
July 4th! It's looking like a windy one!!!
Peas, love & altitude,
Holly
Hey Paul,
I am new to kiting but often in Nyack. Good spots to launch are
tricky to come by, but I'm always up for a challenge. I've got a few
ideas I'm looking to pursue, but not necessarily alone. If you know
when you'll be in town, let me know and we can try to make something
happen!
