Hey Paul,
I am new to kiting but often in Nyack. Good spots to launch are
tricky to come by, but I'm always up for a challenge. I've got a few
ideas I'm looking to pursue, but not necessarily alone. If you know
when you'll be in town, let me know and we can try to make something
happen!

Hi,
Are there any kiters who have gone on the Hudson, particularly near
Nyack? I visit there several times a year and had been thinking about
giving it a go if the wind is right.
Thanks for an info!

HI! thank you for approving my application.
I am trying to find someone around Norwalk CT who can teach me kiting.
Is kiting the word used among kite surfers? I got it from Argentina,
but I don't want to feel left out here using the wrong words.
Thanks for everything.
Hi All,
I work for REAL Kiteboarding and I just wanted to pass along some info
about a demo we're having this weekend.
We'll be demoing all of the gear we sell on Sunday, May 27, 2007. This
includes kites, kiteboards, surf boards, stand up paddle boards and
the like. Everyone will be meeting at the Buxton Retail store at 10
am on Sunday and we'll go to where the conditions are the best.
Whether or not you're thinking about buying some new gear, this event
is sure to be a lot of fun.
We also just launched our Summer of Fun Sale and we're giving away
free prizes to everyone who spends more than $99. Check out
www.realkiteboarding.com for more info.
The wind in Cape Hatteras has been pretty good as of late! I hope
everyone has been getting lots of good sessions!

Bonjour et Bienvenue a Connecticut!
Pardon my poor French, Storrs is quite far from the Long Island Sound
and Atlantic Ocean, about 60-70 minutes drive. I hope you will have an
automobile to get to the coast.
I keep saying I will learn to KS this summer, if you hear of any good
classes in the area please let me know.

Hello Johann,
There are a bunch of spots about an hour or so from
storrs, most of them are in Rhode Island. I go to
East Beach Ninigret Pond, I am still fairly new to the
sport and it is a good place for novice riders since
it is fairly shallow and not too crowded, at least it
has not been crowded for the past few years that I
have been going there. It is a salt pond right on the
Rhode Island Sound/shore, so you get the best of both
worlds, you can ride on the ocean side with a little
chop or flat water on the salt pond.
Well everywhere on the Rhode Island coast has some
really good spots, even inland. You have Scarborough
beach, which has ok surf, point judith which has good
surf, and a bunch of other spots. There is a cool
oldschool French countrymen (Michel), sorry I can't
remember his last name, but he kites down at Ninigret
and some of the other local spots, he has been kiting
for awhile now and used to windsurf for a long time
before, he would know all the local spots in the area.
He and his wife also live in that area and also know
the area fairly well. When are you coming over from
France? You should stop by Ninigret in the late
spring, if there is wind Michel will be out
kiteboarding, I am pretty sure that he would be very
happy to converse with another fellow Frenchman.
Also if you head further north up the coast you will
head up to Cape Cod, there is alot a very good spots,
many for every level of rider. If you head south
there is a bunch of other spots also down to Sandy
Hook New Jersey. I think you will be pleased, even
though people do not associate kiting with the New
England Area there are many good spots, and since
kiting has not caught on as much as windsurfing did
here, it is not too crowded like it is in Florida or
other places on the west coast. Well hope this helps!
A good place to check out, for local (surf) spots is
nesurf.com , a place to purchase gear in the area is
powerlinesports.com and kitesite.net. A good
website for wind forecast is ikitesurf.com and
windguru.com . A good program to look at coastal
spots via satallite photos is google earth which is
free on google.com . Well, thats about it, I hope
this helps.
Respectfully,
Bobby LaMarco

We figure a lot of snowkiters in the northeast have been very good to their
families for the
last few weeks as, despite somewhat scary forecasts before the event, the
weekend was
gorgeous - bright sun, steady Northerly and lots of snow. Saturday was the
better day
breeze-wise with 8-12 over the day and at one point 80 kites on the ice.
Numbers-wise
there were around 500+ snowkiters and spectators over the weekend.
The photo contest is still open and we have been getting some incredible shots.
The
deadline is March 16 with the winners announced and posted on
www.stormboarding.com/kitestorm2007.html on Monday March 19.
We have some important people and partners to thank for helping hook riders up
with
kites to fly and lots and lots of great prizes.
Peter Lynn Kites and Blake Pelton
Ozone Kites: Brian Schenck, Mike Simpson and Zeb Jakub
HQ Kites: Tim Baxmeyer
Best Kiteboarding: Jake Buzianis
Dakine
Red Bull
Himaya Sun Protection
Best Western Windjammer Inn
Rhino Foods
Kevin's Wicked Mountain Dogs
Our crew of incredibly enthusiastic, fun and competent family and friends who
slave away
before and throughout the weekend to make sure everyone is safe, registered,
taught and
full of chocolate chip cookies.
And of course the several hundred riders who drive and fly from north, south,
east and
west to share a great sport.
Thank you all again. Enjoy the rest of the season (we're psyched for the bonus
hours of
riding we get from the early daylight savings change), have a great summer and
if we do
not see you before, we hope to see you at Kitestorm 2008 - the 5th year of the
event.

There is a clear overall winner when one region has had unseasonably warm temps
and
little snow and another has been blessed (depending on your perspective) with 2
FEET of
snow. We congratulate Mike Winter for getting his personal best speed and moving
to the
top of the list and week's win with a run of 58.0mph on White Bear Lake, MN. He
wins
some Himaya Sun Protection - useful as we move into spring.
See the whole and growing list at www.stormboarding.com/speedranking0607.html
And though the numbers were not the same, the achievement is there to eek as
many mph
as possible out of 8-10kts and lots of snow. The winner of the Kitestorm Speed
Contest
and the Peter Lynn Scorpion 13m kite ready to fly was Paul Morse from Maine. See
the
results and reports from the Kitestorm contest and event at
www.stormboarding.com/
kitestorm2007.html
Thanks to Peter Lynn www.peterlynnproducts.com for the kite to hand out to the
speediest
of Kitestorm - even though the top speeds were relatively slow, the riding was
amazing
and the challenge in seeing how each tenth of a mile per hour could be squeezed
out of
the breeze and snow.

This is Eddie Toy, writing in from St. Augustine, Florida. I have
been teaching kiteboarding here for the past 5 years, and I run First
Coast Kiteboarding. We have been running trips to Green Turtle Cay
in the Abaco islands of the Bahamas, and I was wondering if any of
you might be interested? We sail over from Florida with all of the
toys, including kites, boards, and several inflatable boats for
rescue and excursions to outer reef breaks nearby.
I am planning another trip in April, and the dates are somewhat
flexible, depending on accomodations. I have 3 date slots at this
point, from April 8-14, 11-17, and 14-20. The trips run $1000 per
person not including airfare, which includes accomodations, boat
support, a gourmet dinner cooked by the crew (I was a chef for 5
years), and excursions to nearby islands depending on the weather.
Flights to Treasure Cay are available from Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.
Discounts are available for couples.
I know it's cold up there, and the average temps in the Abacos in
April are mid-80s during the day with water in the mid to upper 70s.
March and April are 2 of the windiest months, with wind in the 15-30
knot range. For more information please check out

Hi All,
Key Biscayne, FL is one of the best spots in the US for water
sports. There is nearly every activity including kitesurfing,
windsurfing, outrigger canoeing, surfskis, catamaran sailing, one-
design sailing, scuba & skin diving, rollerblading, soccer, tennis,
swimming, triathlons, etc. I am not exaggerating that world class
facilities for all these activities surround the island. In
addition, Key Biscayne is the absolute ideal place to live in Miami.
Just 5 miles from downtown ! And never any traffic since it is an
island connected by a causeway. A Ritz-Carlton and a number of other
facilities are available for meetings and guests.
I wanted to let the folks here know of a great condo for sale on Key
Biscayne, Florida. It is located on Ocean Lane Drive, which is the
first street on the island, so getting home and to the city is the
fastest on the whole island. Ocean Lane Drive has private beach
access to the finest windsurfing and kitesurfing area in the Village
of Key Biscayne. This is the North beach adjacent to Crandon Park,
away from the highrises and people.

Key Biscayne is one of the absolute best kiting and windsurfing spots

Hello snowkiters,
We are very psyched for the event and have some updates.
Registration: please, go to www.stormboarding.com/kitestorm2007.html and print
the
registration form AND waiver and have them filled out and ready to hand in when
you
arrive. This will get you riding faster and make you eligible to win the daily
prizes we give
out during the day. you can fill out the paperwork on the day as well (but will
not be in the
prize pool). If you are having tech trouble, email me and I will send them to
your email
address.
Taste of Snowkite Clinics: We only have one spot left for Saturday morning but
still have
room for newbies in the other times (noon sat and 930 and noon Sunday). Email to
me to
get a name on the list and a free taste of the sport for your buddies who have
not
snowkited before.
US Debut of the Ozone Water kite range: be the first to get your hands (mittens)
on the
Light, Sport and Edge kites from Ozone. Even though the water is solid, you can
check out
the features of these exciting kites. And the range of Ozone sheet-able foils
will be there
for demo as well so you can zero in on winter riding with the Access and Frenzy
kites.
Peter Lynn is confirmed and ready with Venoms and are putting up a new Scorpion
kite for
the winner of the Kitestorm speed contest.
HQ Kites USA will be on hand with their range of sheet-able foils: Montana2's,
Apex's as
well as their excellent trainer, the Beamer TSR.
Welcome back to Best: Jake will be here with the latest from Best Kiteboarding
and we are
looking forward to checking out the Best bows coming our way.
Lastly, don't forget your camera. We had some great shots for the Kitestorm
photo contest
last year and are hoping for more. We have great prizes set aside and you do not
have to
ride to win. Pick up black CD's and pre-addressed mailers at registration.
We are sending good event vibes out to Joel and everyone in Montana for the
weekend
coming up.

Eastcoaster Chris Krug, who has a habit of earning his Venom kites through

It was a good week for going fast in the Northeast this week (though personally,

Vermont rider Gary Kjelleren took advantage of a day made for speed runs Sunday
Feb. 4
to reach a top speed of 55.5mph on his skis with a Sonic 8m.
I was teaching that day and Gary must have covered as many miles as his speed as
he
hammered around every part of Mallett's Bay on Lake Champlain.
The coolest part of Gary's run (besides winning the week) was that he had a
camera
mounted on his KITE and took some great video. You know when a gust hits because
he
accelerates and skis out of the picture every now and then.
Gary won some Himaya Cold Formula and next week's winner will keep their hands
warm
with some Dakine gloves.

Top Peter Lynn rider remains Michael Elliot on a Venom 10 at 53.7mph. He is line
to win a
new Scorpion kite. Read about the Scorpion at www.peterlynnproducts.com

This was a well-attended week for riders all over North America. Spped merchant
Joe
Levins came out with the fastest run of 54.8mph on his now snow-covered favorite
spot,
White Bear Lake in Minnesota. He was riding the new Slingshot Ranger foil.
With safe ice now more or less across North America we are seeing good
geographical
diversity in entries though I would be psyched to see some women riders having a
go.
We did get our first bunch of Peter Lynn riders with their sights on the
Scorpion prize and
the fastest so far is Michael Elliot riding in Madison, NH who stands at
53.7mph.
Joe wins an Ozone beanie. Next week's winner will keep their skin smooth and
healthy
with some Himaya Cold Protection. See the whole list at
http://www.stormboarding.com/
speedranking0607.html
We are also psyched to announce some updates for the Kitestorm: demo and prize
partners, after-party location and more. Both sides of the Sand Bar are frozen
with over a
foot on the south side and ice is being made every day. We had some blissful
riding this
weekend and are looking forward to more. See the details about the Kitestorm on:

Finally winter broke through the Rockies and reached the Northeast. And to
celebrate,
Gary Kjelleren opened the season here in Vermont with a big ride on a small

on skis with a 5m Waroo.
We were also psyched to hear from some riders from all over North America -
Ohio,

on this
continent.
Gary won an Ultra Nectar beanie. Next week's winner will sport an Ozone beanie.

Chris "Hollywood" Butzen
Kiteboarders Wanted - Are you ready for winter? Or are you ready for
a trip of a lifetime to Belize with Cabrinha pro - Chris "Hollywood"
Butzen? There are only a few spots left on this kiteboarding
adventure trip. Belize, the eco-vacation capital of Central America
has, bar none, the best kiteboarding on Earth. Belize has great food
and sunny dry 90 degree days and 85 degree waters. Cabrinha pro
rider, Chris "Hollywood" Butzen and Chris Moore will be your guide to
exquisite beaches from San Pedro to Caye Caulker and many of the
barrier atolls and islands. Meet great people, eat incredible food,
and enjoy clear, warm water, and of course, lots and lots of wind.
Spend three nights on a dive boat as we travel to the remote islands
along the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere. Some of the
world's best snorkeling and diving will be at your fingertips as well
as world class kiteboarding!
