Vermont rider Gary Kjelleren took advantage of a day made for speed runs Sunday
Feb. 4
to reach a top speed of 55.5mph on his skis with a Sonic 8m.
I was teaching that day and Gary must have covered as many miles as his speed as
he
hammered around every part of Mallett's Bay on Lake Champlain.
The coolest part of Gary's run (besides winning the week) was that he had a
camera
mounted on his KITE and took some great video. You know when a gust hits because
he
accelerates and skis out of the picture every now and then.
Gary won some Himaya Cold Formula and next week's winner will keep their hands
warm
with some Dakine gloves.
