Dude,
This isn't sailing where you look down your nose at the guy in the yacht next to
you because he's got some line out of place on deck. This is kiteboarding. All
that really matters is safety, speed, hangtime and just having your own fun out
there. I ride an old brown and day-glow orange Takoon with big pieces of black
rip-stop tape along the leading edge. Who cares? It does the job.
As you said, "suck it up" and quit being so anal retentive.

I have a simple question. I don't mean to draw it out so long, but
it will best explain why my mistake was made. I just got another
brand new kite in and only rode it once and it has these light beige
stains on the white portions of my canopy. I rode on monday morning
to early monday afternoon, then parked my gear on the beach to let
my kite air dry. Soon as I started to pack my gear up, it started
to rain, so my kite got sugar cookied with sand. I later rinsed it
off again at home and just temporarily packed it in the kite bag,
and did not get a chance to air dry it since I had to get to class
ASAP and it was raining outside at the time. I went to bed when I
got home from class late in the evening and when I went to unpack my
kite to air dry it in the morning I noticed that it had these light
beige stains all over the white portions of my canopy, it looks like
light coffee stains. It does not look like mildew. I know that I
did not get anything on it.The bag is a brand new bag that came with
the kite which was just unpackaged that day. Also on other
occassions when I was out of time or other circumstances prevented
me from washing and drying my kite ASAP, I have left my two other
kites packed wet, with salt water, in thier bags for over a day and
they did not get stained or mildew, they are in perfect condition
till this day. Has anyone else seen this? Is their anyway to get
rid of a problem like this? Some guy on another web forum said to
use Oxyclean, since he claims it to be organic, but I am very
skeptical about this, since I was always told to not use anything
except plain old fresh water, which is what the Cab Manual also
states. This sucks! This is a $1900 kite that has only been used
once! I know that it is an asthetic problem and not a performance
problem and I should just suck it up and take it as a lesson learned
(I should just miss class the next time and dry my kite out in the
house or something), but it is completely frustrating to see my
brand new kite already stained up like some poopy underware. Any
suggestions! Or feel free to B@!#H me out, I have had alot of crapy
luck this past weeks anyway. Your suggestions are greatly
appreciated!
