An example of a good bike in this range is the Lemond Poprad. This is basically
a good frame with cheaper components. The components are good enough for your
first year racing, and the frame will certainly last you much longer. I've had a
Poprad as a spare bike since 2001 and it's held up well despite seeing a lot of
use. The complete bike is probably on the cheap side of intermediate - it looks
like about $1100. It's probably not worth spending much more on a bike with
better componentry until you're no longer crashing into barriers. ;-)
There's probably other good stuff out there but I don't know what comes as a
complete bike. There are certainly a lot of Redlines out there.

Subject: [necyclocross] Typical Beginner Question
I have been toying with the idea of extending my racing season and
racing cross this year. Very simply, how much money should I be
looking to spend on an intermediate bike, and what brands are in this
price range? I'm not interested in getting an entry bike that I will
outgrow after one season, but I am also not interested in getting a
top of the line bike. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Scott
