Off the bike last week, in Ethiopia. (My other volunteer life.) Compelling work. Nice build on cycling pics. Some are pretty intense. Regards,
Jim

The movie is best viewed full screen -- hit F11 on IE, if that’s your poison.
It was a very compelling and successful trip — five days on the ground, about twelve meetings, with folks ranging from Ministers of Urban Development, several NGOs, US AID, medical advisory board members, in country sponsors, health experts, business people and intellectuals; two clinic site visits; a rousing Pentecostal service; and a visit to the development in Dukem.
We’ve got some incredible partners in country —
- Dr. Alemayhu Dinku, who works 13-hour days in his Addis clinic, caring for 70+ patients, some who pay, some who don’t. He’s on our Board of Directors.
- Dr. Almayehu Tefarra, our construction supervisor, former president of the University of Addis Ababa, Dean of Civil Engineering. Read about Dr. Almayehu here: http://shr.aaas.org/aaashran/victim.php?p_id=70 — from 1993 to 2003, he was a political prisoner.
- Col. Dr. Yodit Abraham, Dean and Commander, Defense College of Health Sciences. She’s on our Board.
- Rev. Daniel Makonnen, Pastor to 10,000 in Addis and many more in Washington, DC, and around the world. With John Wimberly, Daniel is the heart behind the clinic.
- And many others.
Clinic construction is looking good, and important integration with key partners and supporters (e.g., anti-retroviral therapy — HIV/AIDS drug — suppliers) is excellent.
John Wimberly did an extraordinary job framing this trip and the Big Guy, I think, really made it all come together. Thank you,
Jim Wilson
