Hi  NCTTA club presidents and College TT club representatives,

I am hoping you all can take a couple of minutes and answer some questions for me.

Newgy Industries is looking to provide posters that I imagine have their logo and a playful sporty type tone and Table Tennis rules on it. Newgy wants to know the places on your college campus where:

1) Table Tennis tables are located (dorms, union, pool hall, recreation center, etc.) Please list the locations including where your club meets that Table Tennis tables are found

and

2) Where a poster like this, that I have described, can be posted. We obviously do not want you to get in trouble for posting something!

3) Tell us what school and what NCTTA division you are affiliated with.

Please reply by December 9th with your answers.

Thanks everyone!

Greetings Everyone!

The NCTTA College Table Tennis Season is more then half way finished and Spring Regional action has begun. We have some exciting new details to tell you about in NCTTA and around the nation concerning College Table Tennis.

In this Issue

-President's Report;-NCTTA Sponsors;-Fundraising drive;-Fall Division Highlights;-Eligibility Forms for Spring/Championships;-College Table Tennis Rankings;-ACUI Regional Schedule

-2006 Clear Channel NCTTA Championships;-Governance

********President's Report********

Dear NCTTA Table Tennis School teams and respective club members,

College Table Tennis in the United States and Canada has increased its popularity at a feverish pace. We have more then 120 active college table tennis clubs and 16 NCTTA divisions. None of this would have been possible without you and your school table tennis club's enthusiasm and support.

Recently many of you gave support for National Collegiate Table Tennis Association (NCTTA) and for me personally for NCTTA representation on the USA Table Tennis board of directors. I first want to acknowledge my thanks and appreciation for everyone who emailed the USATT board with their comments and support. NCTTA is very blessed to have so many passionate, intelligent, involved members and I for one am proud to be a part of it.

Unfortunately and despite your overwhelming support and emails, the USATT President, Sheri Pittman will not take me on the board of USATT as NCTTA Representative instead opting to have NCTTA board select someone else. I am personally disappointed at not being able to represent you the members of NCTTA, but there is an upside to it all and it is that USATT President has now realized the importance of NCTTA and College Table Tennis and given in to allow NCTTA to have direct representation on the USATT board of directors. I do not regret speaking up for the truth even if it meant my own demise it has allowed for NCTTA to be represented on the board of the USATT.

This would not have happened if you all did not "take to the streets" and show up in unprecedented numbers your support.  Thank you to all that emailed the USATT board; it is a good wake up call for upcoming elections that USATT will have that College Students can and will unite for one common cause.

Join the Wave of the Revolution….NCTTA is here to stay and support your College Table Tennis programs!

********NCTTA SPONSORS********

NCTTA recognizes and thanks its current League sponsor: STIGA Table Tennis Pioneers  for their continued contribution to NCTTA and College Table Tennis in the US and Canada. Please remember to take advantage of their generous discounts for NCTTA member Table Tennis clubs and its members. http://www.nctta.org/sponsorship.html

NCTTA would also like to recognize NEWGY INDUSTRIES  as a valued championship sponsor. Newgy will once again be ever present at our 2006 Clear Channel NCTTA College Table Tennis Championships providing barriers for the tournament, championship T-shirts for every participant and awarding a Robot to both the Men's/Coed and Women's Championship Teams.

Please support our sponsors as they support us.

********JOIN THE WAVE OF THE COLLEGE TT REVOLUTION********

I am pleased to announce NCTTA's first attempt at a fundraising campaign! We are excited and hope that those who have played College Table Tennis in the past and those that are playing now can ultimately help the NCTTA reach its goals to fund school teams to the championship, fund future scholarship opportunities and other goals we have set for ourselves. Click here for more information: http://www.nctta.org/donate.html

********Fall Division Highlights********

Check out this link to find out about all the upsets, upstarts and general uprooting of we call College Table Tennis highlights of last semester!

http://www.usatt.org/magazine/06jan-feb/college_report.shtml

********Eligibility Forms********

The Spring 2006 Eligibility forms are out and on the NCTTA website.

http://www.nctta.org/doc/2006_League_Eligibility.pdf

Schools must have the Spring 2006 Eligibility form filled out by their respective division meets. This form must include EVERYONE that played in the Fall 2005 in addition to any NEW recruits, players, etc. Remember only A teams and Women teams are included on this form.

DO NOT DELAY, print out the form and get your Registrars office involved early. Contact Seemant NCTTA's Registrar at registrar@... if you have any questions or concerns

********College Table Tennis Rankings********

Please see on www.nctta.org the updated College TT Rankings for both coed/men and women's Table Tennis schools.

********ACUI Regional Schedule Information********

We here at NCTTA believe in the team approach with College Table Tennis. ACUI is a non for profit educational organization that holds Table Tennis regionals and a national tournament. NCTTA would like to do everything in its power to promote this event. This is an excellent opportunity for those schools not connected with a region to play intercollegiate Table Tennis. Also it is a good opportunity to establish a good relationship with your school's administration. Get involved and volunteer and PLAY.

http://www.usatt.org/news/2006_acui_regional_schedule.shtml

*******2006 Clear Channel NCTTA College Table Tennis Championships*******

http://www.nctta.org/championship.html

The 2006 NCTTA Championships have signed on Clear Channel Communications as a title sponsor as well as Newgy Industries  as an NCTTA Sponsor.

Information on Travel, transportation, hotel, championship rules and regulations and the new College Paralympics Event will be regularly updated on the website. Check back regularly.

Dear NCTTA members,

The National Collegiate Table Tennis Association is looking for new
officers for the 2006-2007 NCTTA season. NCTTA
is a recognized 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization
and expanded considerably to include 16 active divisions and more
than 100 schools. Without dedication and hard work of our officers,
NCTTA would not have become as successful as it is today. We hope to
continue our success in the upcoming season with help of new
officers. One does NOT have to be a student to be an officer of
NCTTA, we encourage working professionals and schools alumni to take
part in the governance process.

Working in NCTTA one can generally count on putting in anywhere from
10 to 15 hours per week and sometimes more, work is mostly in the online
variety thru email or
chat rooms, though sometimes teleconferences are needed. One needs to
have access to email _regularly_ and furthermore know how to use
NCTTA's email system as one is expected to use our email for NCTTA
business.

Anyone who is passionate about College
Table Tennis should want to get involved as the NCTTA is a very young
organization where you can look to get involved immediately and
develop a foundation in the arena that you are passionate about.
Currently the positions are all volunteer and there is no pay per
say, as much as the intangible reward one gets from making a
difference in a concept, ideal that is bigger than all of
us...College Table Tennis!

The positions available are:

President
Vice President
Treasurer
Recruitment Director
Public Relations Director
Historian
Registrar's

If you are interested in running for a position, please submit your
personal information (questions listed below) to elections@...
by 11:59 PM on Sunday, June 11. All club presidents are eligible to vote
in NCTTA
elections and those interested in running and their statements should
be online shortly after Monday, June 12.

1. Name:
2. Interested Position:
3. Age:
4. School
5. School Year:
6. If you are not a student, where did you go to school:
7. How long have you played table tennis?

Submit a One page formal statement of intent that will include:
Why do you want to work as an officer of NCTTA?

What have you done so far in terms of organizing any campus or
national activities whether within table tennis or outside of it?

Please also provide a list of references and their contact info (ex.
your
division director, the director of your dept of recreation, a member

Hello,

Just wanted to make mention a couple of important items.

1) Get involved with NCTTA Committees; add extra curricular activities to your Curriculum Vitae or Resume and help out the NCTTA to create a better College Table Tennis experience for everyone.

The way it works is if you are interested in chairing a committee
or being a member for consideration
please forward the following information to (Willy) president@...
by Wednesday July 12th, so that it can be presented to the NCTTA Board for a vote.
-Name
-School
-Year in School
-Why you want to be involved
-Which committee you want to be involved in as Chair

Many of you should have received a notice of this email from your division directors.

2) The US National College team competed this past week at the 2006 World University Championships in Maribor, Slovenia. The team was sponsored by STIGA/Table Tennis Pioneers  (www.ping-pong.com) This team came together as a result of collaberation between the NCTTA and USATT and we are more then happy with their results at the Championships!:)

Team Leader was Samson Dubina and Coach of the team was Keith Evans (Texas Wesleyan University).

The Men's team was: Adam Hugh (Princeton); Pan Lin (Princeton); Shashin Shodan (Northwest Polytechnic); Han Xiao (University of Maryland)

The Women's team was: Kat Wu (University of Michigan); Laura Leach (University of Colorado); Amanda Dubina (Malone College)

Competition was tough as they faced college players from traditional powerhouses like: China, Japan and Korea as well as other countries. The spirit of the World Cup of soccer was alive in Slovenia as well so it made their trip a bit more spectacular. It was a tough learning experience, but something that will be replicated in the future for sure. We saw some positive results as the US Women's college team took home country Slovenia to a 5th set losing 3-2 with Katherine Wu (University of Michigan) winning two key matches.

The US Men's College Team on the other hand actually defeated the College Team from Hong Kong! Check out the results:

US-HONG KONG 3-2                                                                                                                                               Han Xiao vs Chu Hiu Yu  11-6  7-11  11-5  5-11  6-11                                                                                     Adam Hugh vs Tang Ka Chun  11-5  11-6  13-15  11-5                                                                             Shashin Shodhan vs Liu Hiu Ming  5-11  11-9  12-14  9-11                                                                            Han Xiao vs Tang Ka Chun  11-9  12-14  12-10  11-9                                                                                   Adam Hugh vs Chu Hiu Yu  11-7  11-7  5-11  12-10

Look for the press release on the NCTTA and USATT websites in the next weeks.

Fellow NCTTA members,

You probably received John McInerney's message recently.

I've been asked by some of my club members at OSU who they should
vote for, as they just recently joined USATT and don;t know any of
the candidates. I thought since many NCTTA members may face the same
problem, I would rather share that with everyone.

I do not claim to know all of the candidates, or guarantee what
their actions will be. But based on the knowledge I do have, here is
my pick:

1. Exec VP: Tahl Leibovitz. I believe Tahl will be transparent, and
he seems to be able to roll his sleeves out to get things done.

2. Treasurer: Ed Hogshead. We know Ed personally, He has done a lot
(personal time and money) for table tennis, including college table
tennis. More than a year ago he dropped by our club on campus; he
created a college event at the Arnold, and he is sponsoring the
nationals this year by donating equipment. Unless this has been a
more-than-a-year scheme, I believe Ed is sincerely passionate about
table tennis.

3. VP at large: I did not find any candidate that convinced me
enough here. Teherfore, I will write in a candidate. I thought of
Sean O'Neil, but now have a better idea. I will write in Willy
Leparulo, as protest vote.

Pass this on to your members if you want, I just forwarded it to
ours.

Hello NCTTA School club presidents and representatives. Please take a moment to answer this question as we (NCTTA) want to get an idea of how many people would actually be interested and able to participate in a unique NCTTA event should it come to fruition.

We are looking at the possibility of creating an event that would happen in Fall 2007. Would a select number of you and your club teams be willing to participate during a 2-3 day period in a possibly televised table tennis promotion event in a city somwhere in the United States? I apologize for being vague, but at this point we are just asking the question.

If 1/2 Travel and accomodations were paid for would your school team be able to attend?

If all travel and accomodations were paid for would your school team be able to attend?

Please reply to this message with your name, school and affiliation within your school club team.

thanks

Thanks to everyone that replied to the questions prior about a College Table Tennis project in the future with major marketing possibilities.

Please forgive the repetition in announcements as you should have received this notice from your respective division directors. Now there is a survey about USA Table Tennis from the US Olympic Committee to find out about those that participate in Table Tennis. Please fill out the survey,  as it only takes like 4 minutes. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=788792766443

SECOND, planning for the 2007 NCTTA Championships is under way.

Representatives have attended a site visit at THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY and there is a good possibility that every qualifying school will have to pay a small entry fee this year. We are telling you this in the hopes that you are pushing hard with your fundraising efforts for your respective clubs NOW.

More information will be available in the upcoming months, but please plan accordingly.
