Hi all,
The first set of NCTTA competition for the spring semester will take place on
Feb. 7. There are a couple important rules I hope to emphasize:
1) Any players who wish to represent their school in the NCTTA national
championships need to have represented the school in a regional meet during that
competition season. The involvement means playing a match (single or double)
for either the official team (i.e. team A) or the junior team (i.e. team B and
C) in any of the regional meet.
Of course, the player would first need to meet our eligibility rule (students
only; no post-docs and faculty members). This rule will be extremely relevant
for some teams who have a good chance in qualifying for the NCTTA championship
in April.
FOR ALL TEAM CAPTAINS, IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE THAT ALL THE PLAYERS ON YOUR
CURRENT ROSTER WILL NECESSARILY PARTICIPATE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP EVEN IF YOUR
SCHOOL QUALIFIES, THEN YOU SHOULD CONSIDER BRINGING A COUPLE NEW PLAYERS ONTO
YOUR TEAM A OR TEAM B ROSTER IN THE SPRING MEET. This way, it will give you
flexibility in arranging your final roster of players who will actually fly and
show up at the championship, because if your players have not represented your
school in any shape or form during the regular season, they cannot all of the
sudden show up at the championship and hope to represent your school there.
2) The minimum number players per team is 3. A 2- or 1-person "team" is not
allowed to compete in NCTTA meets. Furthermore, if you bring only 3 players,
then you automatically default the fourth singles match.
For further details, please see our rules section.
3) We are working on a couple airlines and car rental deals for NCTTA and ACUI
championships. Details will be release in a week or less. In the mean time,
please continue to support our sponsors: STIGA/Table Tennis Pioneers and Newgy.
Sincerely,
Jack Wu
