Dear NCTTA members,
The national championship date is now less than 3 months away and it's
time to try to fit the spring meet before the Friday, March 5th deadline with
Feb. 28 and 29 being the last weekend for regular season play. The deadline is
set so that
teams qualified for the national championship can have 5 weeks to obtain the
necessary travel funds from their universities and book the airline tickets at
reasonable prices. If your division directors have not contacted you regarding
the planning of the spring meet, you should send them an e-mail or give them a
call!
However, more importantly, from some of the feedbacks we got from the fall
meet, it appears that even club presidents have failed to recognize some of the
important aspects of the league. There are many documents and info available on
our website.
Failure to get acquainted with them has resulted in default matches and possible
sanctions against some divisions. Please be aware of the following important
points:
1) NCTTA is a government-recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has a
mandate to "foster national amateur competition," and we approach that very
seriously. We have had well over 80 different schools participating in NCTTA
competitions this year and in the past. Please be sure to emphasize that when
you communicate with your school officials for funding and school newspapers for
news coverage. We even have a document ready for you to print out and use!

Your clubs will not grow if your club presidents do not recognize the potential
of this beneficial relationship.
2) NCTTA does have rules. Please read them before showing up at the meet.
Previous document did have glitches and hopefully we have fixed them all.

3) Minutes from NCTTA board meeting on Dec 11 are now available to be publicly
viewed.
www.nctta.org/2003-04/NCTTAExec12052003.htm
SEVERAL MOTIONS were passed, including actions taken against violations of
league rules.
4) Please ask your club to pay the membership dues if the school has not done
so. You can mail the cheque (it is a one-time $50 fee PER SCHOOL for the WHOLE
2003-04 competition year) directly to our treasurer (Michelle Hu) at
Box 94590
Durham, NC 27708
5) Our championship page is now up! (www.nctta.org/champs/2004/index.htm) IF
YOUR TEAM MIGHT QUALIFY FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP, IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to visit
our documents page (www.nctta.org/doc/index.htm) and read about NCTTA
Championship Regulations, Rules and Financial Assistance, along with the
Financial Assistance Application.
6) Please support ACUI competitions. For details, see Willy Leparulo's
annoucement on Jan 9 that was sent to this e-mail list.
7) NCTTA Features page is also now up and running.
www.nctta.org/features.htm
It aims to introduce one player and one club every month or two. If you have
any suggestions or have written any articles, please send them to me and Wei at
publicrelations@...
8) Please continue to take advantage of the sponsorship deal we have with the
Table Tennis Pioneers (www.ping-pong.com). To clarify, the 5% NCTTA discount is
on top of the 5% websales discount (the prices you see when you order from TTP
online already include their 5% websales discount. therefore, TTP will manually
take additional 5% when they process your bill that you see online (i.e. if your
online bill says $100, the bill that arrives along with your package will say
$95). Be sure to
double-check the bill that comes with your shipment and let me know of any
problems. For details on how to take advantage of the deal, please visit
www.nctta.org/Sponsorship.htm
9) Lastly, we are excited to announce that Newgy Industries has decided to
become a major sponsor for the NCTTA championship! Newgy has, for decades,
produced high-quality ping pong robots that can be utilized by beginners and
professionals alike.
Please visit www.newgy.com and many table tennis retailers, including the Table
Tennis Pioneers, carry Newgy products.
phew, that's it for now. Please let me know of any comments you have. Good luck
in the coming spring meet!
Sincerely,
Jack Wu
