Hey Everyone,
Just a reminder that the Killerspin weekend is coming up. The whole weekend
starts the Saturday after Christmas and goes Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
This is the second annual Killerspin Weekend and will probably be a big
success, since last year’s event was the biggest table tennis event the
Midwest has ever seen and one of the most successful events the US has seen.
The schedule for the weekend is as follows:
Saturday: Killerspin Open.
Sunday: Killerspin Open.
Monday: Killerspin Open (doubles), U.S. Pro Tour, Super Circuit, Killerspin
Extreme.
The Super Circuit may change by a day, to Sunday, but all else will probably
stay the same. The Killerspin Open is just a really huge tournament in
which anyone can play in. If you were interested hopefully you registered
by now; entry deadline, without getting incurring fees, was the 12th.
Whether you’re planning on competing or not, it’s worth stopping by at the
Open. Killerspin welcomes spectators at no cost, the best players in the US
will be competing, and if you want to play but not compete, there will be a
free-of-charge area where players are welcome to play at. The Pro Tour,
featuring US players, and the Super Circuit, featuring US and International
players, will also both be free on Monday. All these events will be
happening at the McCormick Place in the city.
Then, Monday evening the Killerspin Extreme will be at the UIC Pavilion.
While this event costs $25-$30 for a ticket, it is more than worth it for
any table tennis enthusiast. It is tournament style exhibition of the best
players in the World. The invited players that will definitely be attending
include: Lucjan Blaszczyk, Biba, Joo Se Hyuk, Aleksander Karakasevic,
Kalinikos Kreanga, Peter Korbel, Ma Lin, Wang Liqin, Chiang Peng Lung, Ilija
Lupulesku, Jorgen Persson, Zoran Primorac, Vladimir Samsonov, Mihaela Steff,
Kim Taek Soo, Jan Ove Waldner… and perhaps more. Last year it was like the
WWF of table tennis, players were introduced with lights, smoke, music, and
escorted by models. Kevin and I attended last year, along with almost the
whole Rockford club, and lots of people traveling from distant states. It
was great.
So if anyone is interested in any of the events contact me or check out

I will be stuck in the city pretty much the whole weekend. I’m only playing
one day, but will probably be there for all the events. It’s definitely
something you won’t want to miss. Otherwise, happy holidays.
