NCTTA announcement part 1: competition   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #24 of 163 |
Dear NCTTA members,

Sorry, my apology. My e-mails comes in spurts. But several very important NCTTA
announcements (divided into two e-mails):

1) Our recruitment director, Willy Leparulo, has taken over the rein as the new
ACUI director. Congrats! Willy is a very enthusiastic individual who has
devoted himself to college table tennis for the past 4+ years. I am sure that
he will do an excellent job and hope that NCTTA members will give him the
support he needs as an ACUI director.

2) Please read the NCTTA rules before the meets. Preferably have them printed
out and placed under you pillow before you go to sleep :)

3) The majority of the meets are taking place this weekend. The division
directors are required to submit 2 "interesting paragraphs" about the meet + one
photo to be published on NCTTA website and condensed for USATT magazine
publication. In order to do so, however, they need your help!

Each school can provide the director with some basic info: each player's name
and school (obviously), major, class (freshman, sophomore, etc.), past titles in
tt tournaments, past coach, eqipment, etc. This is A LOT of info but the
division director can pick and choose what to emphasize as the story develops
(i.e. Alan Fan, graduate student from Toronto, ON, controlled the tables well
and defeated the #1 ranked player from Duke, Samuel Smith of California, etc.
etc.).

If possible, the paragraphs can be used as a newsrelease to every school's
school newspaper. Michelle and I will be doing that with all the schools in
carolina division. You can do the same. AT THE END OF THIS E-MAIL, I HAVE
ATTACHED some stuff (about the league) that can follow your two paragraphs to
place it under context. These writings are all meant to consolidate your club's
relationship with your school's officials. Whether your newsrelease is
published or not, is another story. But at least you do your part to promote
your own club and sports. These are ALL things you can bring to your club
sports or recreation directors and obtain MORE RECOGNITION and FUNDINGS for the
future.

Please do cap the newsrelease with 1) your club's meeting time and place, 2)
encourage anyone interested to show up, 3) mention that NCTTA (www.nctta.org) is
supported by www.ping-pong.com (The Table Tennis Pioneers).

If your division directors do not have enough time and are tied up, any club
president can assume these tasks. Some of the stuff were already done for you
(see end of this e-mail).

hope this is not too confusing,
Jack
Dear staff at xxxx school newspaper,
Here, I am excited to inform you of the excisting actions that took place
this past week. Carolina Division meet took place on Sunday (11/9/03) at Duke
University. In this largest collegeiate table tennis tournament of this region,
UNC-Wilmington played against Methodist College, NC State and Duke University in
a tight team format.

[here please insert two paragraphs of words + mentioning of results and final
standings]

The National Collegiate Table Tennis Association (NCTTA) is a
government-recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It is run by college
students who are dedicated to our sport in the U.S. and Canada. To obtain that
non-profit status, NCTTA had to fulfill the exempt requirement of "fostering
serious national or international sports competition" according to IRC
501(j)(2). We are constantly increasing the level of competitive play and
promote sports professionalism.

For this reason, the league has expanded to 17 divisions and 80+
participating schools from all four corners of the United States and even from
Ontario, Canada. Details, please see our website at www.nctta.org At the end
of this e-mail, I have also attached our league's scheduled meets for this year.

For any question, please address it to xxx at xxx@...

Sincerely,
XXXXX
