any members asked me if I will put up a time so
that all the members can chat. I love the idea, but we
all live in different places and some of you guys
dont even live in the United States. So unless you
have a good idea, lets just chat anytime at the Yahoo
NBA room.
defenetly dont think Penny should or will leave
the Orlando Magic...there is no reason for him to do
so at the moment...and the money it would require to
sign him will be too much for any of the attractive
teams anyway...his contract would probably be of
Garnett size, and no big franchise have the cap room
right now...expt: Bulls...if Pippen and Rodman doesnt
sign, and it doesnt look like any of them will...but I
dont think he wants the pressure of being Gods
successor...So for my money you can just relax....Penny isnt
going anywhere....but then again...what do I
know......
oh and by the way...Bulls dont have anyone to trade
him for so...
bet the question a lot of people are asking is
"Is Penny going to be with the Magic for long?" I
know I have. My team is the Magic and Penny is the
man. I would like him to stay in Orlando. What do you
guys think?
ow, that we got the greatest player thing
straight, lets see whos the
greatest team.
I thought
about these teams: 96 Bulls, 87 Lakers, 86 Celtics, 83
76ers,
67 Philly, 72 Lakers and 91 Bulls.
I chose the
first 3.
I will show u all the information u have to
know in order to decide.
Before we go on, I have
some explaining to do.
HoF - Hall of Famers: how
many Hall of Famers came from that team
(of course
MJ and Pip will be elected, maybe Rodman and Kukoc
too).
Rings: how many players from that team won a title
before, and how many.
For example, If Bill Russell,
who won a championship before, played for
Boston
in 1959-60, and no other member of the squad won a
title before,
the team will have one ring.
Here
we go:
96 BULLS:coach: Phil Jackson. squad:
Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman,
Toni
Kukoc, Ron Harper, Steve Kerr, Luc Longley, Bill
Wennington, Jud Buechler,
Randy Brown, Dickie Simpkins,
Jason Kaffie. record:72-10. playoff record:15-3.
total record:87-13(87%).number of teams in the
league:29, average win margine: 12.24,
rings:8. HoF:4.
leaders:Jordan 30.4, Pippen 19.4, Kukoc 13.1. end of season:
Jordan
leading scorer, MVP, all NBA first team, all defensive
first team. Rodman rebound leader
and all defensive
first team, Phil Jackson coach of the year, Kukoc won
the 6th man award,
Pippen all NBA first team and
all defensive first team, Jerry Krause won the
executive
of the year award.think about it: they were 33-8 in
away games, the second best in history.
They had a
good offence, but there were better. The defence
though, was one of the greatest
in history.
But the
bottom line is Jordan, no one could ever stop him (not
even the 86 Celtics) and he
is the main reason I
put here the Bulls.
By the way, 72 72 72 72 72 72
72 72 72 72 72 72
87 LAKERS:coach: Pat Riley.
squad: Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar,
Byron
Scott, A.C Green, Michael Cooper, Mychal Thompson, Kurt
Rambis, Billy Thompson, Adrian Branch,
Wes Matthews,
Franck Brickowski, Mike Smerk. record:65-17.playoff
record:15-3.
total record:80-20(80%). teams:23.average margin:9.3.
rings:17. HoF:3. leaders: Johnson 23.9,
Worthy 19.4,
Jabbar 17.5, Scott 17, Green 10.8, Cooper 10.5, Thompson
10.1. end of season:
Magic assists leader, MVP, all
NBA first team. Cooper defensive player of the year,
all defensive
first team. think about it: They
beat Boston in the finals 4-2 while scoring 115 points
in a game.
great bench.
86 CELTICS:coach K.C
Jones. squad: Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish,
Dennis Johnson, Danny
Ainge, Scott Wedman, Bill
Walton, Jerry Sichting, David Thirdkill, Sam Vincent, Sly
Williams,
Rick Karlisle, Greg Kite. record: 67-15.
playoff record: 15-3. total: 82-18(82%). teams: 23.
average
margin: 9.4. rings: 12. HoF:4. leaders: Bird 25.8, McHale
21.3, Parish 16.1, Johnson 15.6, Ainge 10.7.
end of
season: Bird MVP, all NBA first team. McHale all
defensive first team. Walton won the 6th man
award.
think about it: Bill Walton came of the bench and
blocked 106 shots. 9-0 against the division
leaders
during the season. One of the greatest front courts the
NBA ever had, if not the best.
Thats
all.
P.S
If u want I can do the same thing with the other
teams I mentioned, but most of'em r old and we
dont
know the players as we know these.
reatest ever....
Ing, dont worry bout us
killin u, if u want Pip there just put him.
no.1 is
agreed.
no.2 is tough. But I still think its Russell. After
MJ, Russell is the
greatest winner ever. The 11
titles in 13 season achievement is unmatchable.
Plus,
he is one of the greatest defenders ever, they say
the block was
his invention (the first one who
used it regulary).
His rebounds nums are great (I
know the NBA players back then were short).
His
scoring ability. In every season he played for the Celts
they had
their scorers: Bill Sharman, Bob Cousy,
Tom Heinsohn, Sam Jones, John Havlicek etc.
So
Russells job was to get the ball in defence and lead his
team.
I know also that his career fg% was .440, but that
doesnt help me, so ignore it....
Bottom line is that
Russell was a winner, a great defender and he
scored
his 15 points a game.
no.3 is Magic Johnson. I
loved his game style, he was a great winner too
(42
points in philly in the NBA finals as a rookie, playing
as center etc.).
Second, he was a 6-9 Point gurad
who ran like Isiah Thomas, amazing.
Well, I just
like him.
no. 4 is Kareem. Yeah, he played for 20
seasons, still he's the all time
leading scorer, 6
rings, 6 MVP, 19 All Star games, great rebounder, shot
blocker...
Still he needed players like Big O and Magic to win
titles.
no.5 is Bird. I still can't explaine Bird. Clumsy
looking, too slow, can't run,
can't jump....
First
the improvement he brought to Boston: 29-53 before
Larry, 61-21 in the
first season with him.
a great
shooter, passer and rebounder (for a small
forward).
Add the 3 consecutive MVPs and you'll get a top 5
player.
no. 6 is Wilt. 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100 100
100
I think that does it.
no.7 is Oscar Robertson. I
just checked his stats for you all, and guess what I
found.
U all probably know he averaged a triple double in
'62.
Did u know that through '61 to '65 he averaged a
triple double?
30.3 Ppg, 10.4 Rpg and 10.5
Apg.
So, why is he ranked only 7th?
Well, winning is
everyhing, and Oscar didnt win enough.
no.8 is Jerry
West, 9 is Dr. J, last is Elgin Baylor.
I see u in
the next message....
thank you all for bringing up these messages.
Please feel free to put more! And now, I need you guys
to put up some ( GOOD ) links. I dont want 500 nba
links, only the good ones. Thank you Marbury, for
putting the slam magaizne's website.
ell I ment to say the most dominant....the best
is the one with the most skillz...and we all know he
isnt really an all-round center.
As far as Mike...I
didnt say this stuff...Wilt did...but I agree that he
gets to many calls..and to few against. But he would
probably be avereging 31 ppg anyway, cuz as you said, when
he gets angry....well then there is no stopping
him..
As for respect...no one was dissin Jordan like the
Pistons did..I hate those guys for their disrespect. They
didnt even shake the Bulls players hands after they
finally beat them back in 1990.And we all know that Larry
Bird didnt respect MJ when he playd with him in the
all star games, but that all changed when Mike became
the player that he is now.

Greatest
ever....
1.Micheal Jordan 2.Ervin Johnson 3.Larry Bird 4.Julius
Erving 5.Oscar Robertson 6.Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 7.Isiah
Thomas 8.Wilt Chamberlain 9.Bill Russell 10.Moses
Malone

maybe Doc and Isiah are to high on this list, but I
like their flair and style of play, but I guess some
of you would call them (espesially doc) show offs,
but thats ok....cuz I agree......and Bill Russells 11
rings and 5 MVPs certanly warrents a higher position,
but I dont think his 22 rpg makes up for his poore 15
ppg, I think both Wilt and Kareem would have won 11
championships with that Celtics team(and to you mar_3_bury shaq
would too...do I need a bullet proof west?).
I would
probably put Scottie Pippen in there to, but you all would
kill me, so I didnt.

So whats your TOP
10?...and why am I wrong?
irst off, I thought u said Shaq can be
considered as the greatest center ever, didnt u?
cause
now u say he's the most dominant...
Now, I dont
think Wilt watched some MJ games lately, cause since he
came back he is shootin that fadeaway shot which is
unstopable.
Second, an example, in the 80s the Celts didnt give MJ no
respect and he still scored 63 against them in a playoff
game.
I dont think there is any question about his
scoring ability.
and we all know that when Mike is
angry (like he was at Stackhouse when he said he could
beat him one on one) he can easily score 40-50.
He
is usually angry at the poor Knicks...
I kinda
agree with the last point, but come on...
so
pathetic. Do u want to tell me he wouldnt have won titles
and score so much without that "respect" from
referees?
We all know that Wilt is trying to say that he's the
greatest ever and not MJ. I disagree.
He's not even the
second best. Russel is.
Any comments?
y favorite team is the Los Angeles
Lakers.
And my favorite player is Eddie Jones
I kinda like
all the great players such as Jordan, Bird, Jabbar
and last but not least the-one-the only Ervin "magic"
Johnson
ell as I said he does get away with more than
other ball players. But the most important thing is
that he gets fols all the time, even when it isnt even
close to being a foul. Hes such a great player and all
of that so he shouldnt and doesnt need all these
favours from the refs. I didnt mean that it was Jordans
foult, cuz it certanly isnt. But he doesnt ever say what
he thinks on the subject, and that bothers me.
ordan is a very good bball player but he gets
away with things easily. I saw times where he fouled a
person in the last seconds and the refs didnt do
anything about it. But it also could be the refs fault.
Also, I have never seen him get a technical foul and he
does talk back to the refs. What do you guys think?
before you all kill me I must say that I think
MJ is the best player ever, but I read this so I
thought it would be cool to see what you all think....so
here goes nothin.....

Wilt Chamberlain said in
his latest book that Jordans field goal percentage
was as high as it is becouse of all the dunks he
does. He said the Mike really wasnt a good shooter. One
other point he made was that despite MJs 31 ppg.avg.he
wasnt such an offensive force. All the players who had
the task of guarding him had too much respect and
literally gave away 8-10 points a game becouse they where
afraid of him. And he said that(and this I totally agree
with)Mike got away with much more than any other player in
the league, and that he got too many calls from the
referees, leading to easy points from the free throw
line.
I think he has made a valid arguement
What do
you think?
ell on pure shooting, open shots, Glen is much
better than Mike, not only him but also players such as
Miller and Elis, but when you consider all the things
Mike does to get room to get the shoot off....well
then there is no contest...Jordan is the best if you
think shooting as a whole. The fakes...the timing...the
whole thing. Jordan just might be the smartest player
ever and he uses that to get off shots that Rice,
Miller and Elis wouldn`t. So that makes Michael Jordan
the best.
think that if you give Shaq some time he will
get better at the freethrows. Hakeem Olajuwon wassn't
a good passer til he won the NBA FINALS ( that is
what it says in one of my magazines ) and if you give
the Young Shaq some time there will be a 90% that he
will improve on his free throws.
ou have to understand that Kareem playd for 20
seasons, if Shaq does play that many he will pass him on
the all time points list. But I`m not taking anything
away from Jabbar, he was in the possesion of the only
un-blockable shot in NBA history. Add the 6 rings, and 6 MVPs
and I really can`t argue against you. Cuz I know Shaq
will never get as many of either.
But as far as
being the most dominating and powerfull center
ever.....well..I still wont change my mind. On the free-throws, I
have no answer to why he doesnt improve, but we all
know that the bigger you are the more problems you are
gonna have hittin the foul-shots. And Shaq is bigger
than anyone. But I wont justify his lack of
improvement on this, cuz he should get better at it, but he
hasnt. I just hope he will be remembered for what he
could do and not what he couldnt. He deseves
that!
Top 50, well there are a lot of guys who shouldnt be
on the list. Shaq may be one of em, but I think he
should be on it or at least be considered.
irst, do u remember that Kareem, u know, the all
time leading scorer?
Now, I think that who ever put
Shaq in the greatest 50 was drunk or somethin....
U
cant put a four years in the league player that
didnt do anything in his short career in the all time
top 50.
I respect Shaq. His quickness is great,
despite of being a monster.
But I dont like him much
because he shows no improvement.
He remains .500 from
the line since he came in the league, and he fails in
leading his team when they need him.
When he was a
Magic, Penny led them in the playoffs. Shaq was schooled
by Smits and later on by Olajuwon (Another center I
put before Shaq in the greatest centers
table).
Last season He couldnt lead the young Lakers despite
of his Playoffs experience.
Thats all
s I said, I think MJ is the best ever.
I want
him to retire because Phil Jackson left
and Pip
will leave too probably.
Without these two, it will
be very hard for Jordan to win.
Other than that,
MJ didnt play well last season.
Thats why I want
him to retire, so he will remembered as a
champion.
On the other hand, do u remember the two awful
seasons we had when MJ imbaressed himself playin
baseball?
irst off, My name is Hagai, I'm 16 and I live in
Israel.
I'm a Lakers fan (since the lastest 80s).
My
favourite player is Stephon Marbury.
My favourite Laker
is Eddie Jones.
In my opinion Michael Jordan is
the best ever.
Thats all.
haq is a good player with size and strength. If he adds more moves in the low
post and more defense, he will be amazing. Maybe even the best center ever.
overall think that Shaq is an ok player.
Everyone in the NBA has some weekness and Shaq's weekness
is free throws. But think about his defense and
rebounds. If he was on your favorite team, trust me, you
will like him.
hats up NBA fans. My
favourite team is the Twolves and my favourite player is
Kevin Garnett. I also like the Lakers and Kobe Bryant. What teams do you guys
like?
