The Spurs wanted Maggette and now I know why they didn't sign him. And I think
the answer is yes, many of them are, or at least make some dumbass decisions.
Look at Kerr in PHX. He morgaged their complete future on a player who has been
on the decline for years. But GS GM takes them all. Just look at their draft.
Speaking of dumb. How about Dallas letting Diop go to NJ and then realizing they
need him, sign him for $50 mil plus when they were palying him under $3 mil a
year. Talk about dumb.

50 million for Maggette? 72 million extension for Bogut????

Where is Maggette going to play? He's no better than Jackson/Harrington
or the glut of other swing forwards they have. Plus he's way to fragile
to pay 10 mill a year. Watch Ellis bolt after this move

Bogut is defenitly not worth a 72 million extension what are they
thinking. An average center for the price of Elton Brand. Can anyone
say Big Country Reeves... there's NO team who could have offered Bogut
that much btw. This practically insures that the Bucks will be unable
to sign any free agents from now on. With the East getting a lot
tougher (toronto, Philly, Miami and Chicago are much improved) this is
just a horrible move.

There aren't enough of those to go around. Maybe he just needs to grow up before
his skills begin to erode.

Way ahead of yourself. Coach D' had tons of talent in phx and even made a run
in the WCF's a few years ago. I live in phx and have personally seen what he
can do.

Offense will not be a problem as long as he has shooters and streakers. However
come playoff time playing half court offense is his biggest weakness. He can
rack up wins, sell tix and get to the playoff's. But he has not proven to be
enough of a "hard ass" when he needs to be. Much like the suns were, he's soft.
Unlike pops, phill jackson or brown, d' hasn't figured out yet how to win the
big games.

He will do things his way come hell or high water. And much like in phx when
the upper's try to get involved he'll take his show to another town.

He had tons of talent in phx and because kerr tried to influence a harder
practice regimen and detail to d he decided it's not his game. No one really
expected him to leave and even his best player (nash) said that he expected him
to return.

The bottom line is when things got hard he flew. Look at what doc did in
beantown with one year of credible talent. It's easier to win when u have great
players, but D won them the championship and I don't mean d'antoni. Good luck
all u NYK fans. Don't get your hopes too high, then u won't be let down so
hard.

Jesse posed me this interesting question. Is D'Antoni going to make a
  positive difference in NY?

Well a lot will depend on the draft. Will they get a good point guard
or not, will they trade up to get possibly 2 good players? I think they
should. The long term plan here is to make a play for LeBron James in 2
years. They need to set up everything to make that possible.

There's a limited amount of places LeBron could go that make sense.
Staying in Cleveland will net him the most salary from basketball. But
will they be able to surround him with good players? I don't think so,
and Z Big Ben will be done around that time.

Going to New York gives him the biggest stateside market of all. The
money he can earn on endorsements and other side activities in New York
should outweigh the loss of salary he takes for moving to another team.
Remember LeBron wants to be the first billionaire athlete and where
better to make that fortune than NY. But they need to surround him with
talent because he will want to win a lot of games. They should be able
to clear enough capspace to make it happen. Look for them to move up to
get OJ Mayo who is a good friend of LeBron.

Going to Houston would allow him to team up with Yao and an aging T-
Mac, this would expose him to 1 billion Chinese. Possibly as big if not
bigger a market then NY is. With Battier, Scola, Head and Alston you
have a nice core to surround LeBron with but could they free up the
money for LeBron, this would probably require a sign and trade.

Finally Hello Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Nets would have a decent chance
to sign LeBron, they would offer the NY market and Jay-z figures to be
around. With a good amount of capspace and Devin Harris around they
have a very small core to build around. A lot will depend on moving
Carter or Jefferson for young talented players.

With LeBron the franchise would be relevant again, i have no doubts
that he is the best player in basketball and will have improved his
jumper by that time to be unstoppable.

This team can be highly entertaining, and that's what
the NBA needs. I feel that if the Knicks are just
relevant, the League will be ok. Relevancy doesn't
mean good, just that people are talking about you and
looking forward to seeing them. The Warriors are
relevant because they entertain. All entertaining
teams are. These Knicks can run and score, but they
can't defend and won't have to. That's the D'Antoni
recipe. Let's score 120 and only give up 119 and we'll
win some. It worked in Phoenix and the Suns regained
some of the relevance that they lost. So give it time
Knick fans. Just enjoy the ride.

As discussed in the previous post, the goals in NY are long term,
D'Antoni should be an appealing coach for free agents because of his
open system.

Is D'Antoni going to make a difference this season? Well for one he's
not Isiah Thomas, this should benefit the team. He comes with a
winning attitude and has his own playing system which should
transform these Knicks into a higher scoring faster basketball team.

He doesn't have the best material to work with. The draft will help a
lot, hopefully they will pick up a playmaker like Mayo or Bayless.

Curry is too slow, maybe he will get in shape like shaq did for Mike.
Ideally he comes off the bench to provide a second unit scoring
option.

I would start Crawford at guard along with Mayo or Bayless.
Richardson player really well for the suns under D'Antoni so he
likely will start at small forward. I would use Randolph who's still
an elite talent at forward with David Lee. Either of those guys can
move into the post and play as center. Defensively they will have
problems but offensively with the new system they should make up for
that.

I would leave Marbury of the team and wait for his deal to run out.
He just doesn't get it.

Nate and Curry would provide scoring of the bench with Jeffries,
Collins, Balkman and Chandler providing some defense and athletism.

In the East there should be a chance to win 42 games and making the
playoffs. However playing attractive ball and improving their young
players should be the focus.

All in all, i see only positives in hiring D'Antoni. He will have a
tough job ahead of him but the future holds some glimmers of hope.

Well, I said that Kobe would destroy this franchise before it's all over and
from the looks of it, mission accomplished. Destroy not in the sense that they
will become the Clippers, but in the sense that Jackson and Kobe will never ever
win another ring, not with LA. Problem is both are associated with the Lakers.
The Los Angeles Lajkers are the primer franchise in the NBA. The NBA will not
survive w/o them, unlike the NFL. Kobe tried to play the role of playmaker,
leader, facilatator, and it didn't work. Now there is nothing that Jackson nor
upper management can tell him that will convince him to try again. Kobe cannot
win w/o help from another primer player. Bynum will not make a difference. he is
both young and foolish. Kobe needs a big man that plays tough defense and can
score when needed. Problem is, where are they going to find him and after the
way LA raped Memphis, who will trade with them? Kobe want to be the big-time
scorer and wants the world
to mention his name above Jordan and the rest. Now he will be remembered for
the greatest collapes in finals histroy. The whole team quit and all they did
was follow their leader. Painful to look at, even for me.

Jordan. In one of the worst performances by a superstar in history
Bryant failed in his quest to be considered one of the alltime greats.

Kobe's in his own world, his teammates don't know what to expect from
him and he doesn't make them better as players. Sure a team gets more
dangerous with Kobe on it but he does not bring the leadership his
teammates can trust in. This was evident in Gasol, Odom, Farmar and
many others. When they needed a pat on the back or a nice pass for an
easy basket to get them rolling, Kobe did not provide it for them.

The most telling perhaps was the sight of Kobe Bryant shooting all
technical free throws in game 6. With his team desperate for a second
scorer, Kobe decided it was better to add to his personal score than to
have a teammate make an easy basket that might get them started.

All in all it's easy to conclude that Kobe is not the next Jordan, he
failed to even be the next Dwyane Wade. And frankly he has been in the
league so long it's doubtful he will still 'get it' in the future

Hey I'm working on a new fantasy basketball news site for next season.
I need a few writers and bloggers to fill the pages with good
information. Though there is no pay (for now at least), this is a good
chance to show off your writing talents to the world.

The site is still about a month or two away, but i just wanted to give
you guys a heads up. Thanks in advanced for your responses. (you can
also email me at full.court.fantasy@...)

Well I think it was great, officals are human beings and they can make mistakes,
mistakes was made on both ends of the court, L.A. and Boston is a great match up
and it is much better than watching another San Antonio Detroit Finals. I'm
going for the Lakers in the finals, I'm a Laker fan and Kobe is the best of the
current league.

I hope the sponsors of the NBA know that most NBA fans (those that are
not LA or Boston fans) don't plan on watching the championship game.

The officiating was horrible. I'm not watching and I hope others don't
watch either. It'd be nice to see a movement of people voicing their
dissatisfaction to the NBA and letting as many people as possible know
if they won't be watching.

If LA does not win tonight, San Antonio will win
the series in 6 or 7 games. To many players
without experience for LA. The longer the series,
the more pressure. You all know that. Can the
newbies for LA handle the pressure? We'll see,
but Spurs win gm 4.
