C-Webb bought out by 76ers   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #13960 of 14556 |
Following Allen Iverson out of Philadelphia is former all star Chris
Webber. His contract was bought out and he will be a free agent after
a 48 waiver period. After waivers he is free to sign with any team.
His salary will continue to count against the 76ers salary cap. Teams
rumored to be interested in Webber are: Dallas, San Antonio, Detroit,
Phoenix, LA Lakers and of course the New York Knicks.

To be frank the Knicks seem the most unlikely to sign him, having
little chance to win a title. However Isiah might have some tricks up
his sleeve, Steve Francis has been somehow rumored to be going to
philly and this might be some under the table type deal if it happens.

Dallas, Chris would fit in here but is probably too slow and Dallas
is running smoothly so adding Webber might disrupt them more than
make them better.

For Detroit it would add a local star but also they have several
players at his position and it would limit the young and improving
Maxiel's playing time.

San Antonio, Webber and Duncan would probably work and give them even
more firepower. If they could get him cheap i would do it.

Phoenix, are you kidding. Webber will not keep up with them in any
way. He would only help against teams like Houston who would slow
down the game but all in all i dont think its a good match

LA Webber and Bynum on the block Odom and Kobe bringing up the ball,
it could be a nice fit. Than again it could mess up this young team's
chemistry taking away playing time from either Bynum or Walton who
both need to be on the court
