The Blues seem to be playing very good hockey.
Our boys will have to be at the top of their
game.
I think the key is our defensive play. If we can
keep the pressure off of Vokoun, play on their end of
the ice... I like coming in as underdogs. But then,
aren't we always??

I'm a little worried about tonight. The Blues
come in awfully hot plus Vokoun's gimpy. On the other
hand, they have played like 3 games in 4 nights and are
due to lose and we're due a "W". Here's hoping we
scare up a win!

Eddie, got paid for that add. I think it was
smart of the CBJ's to get Eddie to do it, it's not

Preddevil is correct. The Predators has nothing
to gain if the Blue Jackets fail to sell tickets.
Predators fans have no reason to be offended by George's
actions. He did not say anything negative about the
Predators.

(If you want a reason to be mad at Eddie George,
here's a good one. As a former Heisman winner he gets a
vote in the Heisman balloting for the rest of his
life. He admitted that he voted for Charles Woodson
over Peyton Manning.)

Since I mentioned Peyton,
I am going to have to use him as an example (maybe
that way the local media may take notice of the post).
Peyton was born and raised in New Orleans. He had one
more reason to be a Saints fan than the typically
young football fan had - his father was the Saints QB
and later joined the broadcast team. Peyton has a
very successful career in Indianapolis. Where is he
off-season home? Outside Chattanooga! He lives closer to
where he played college ball than where he grew up or
where he plays pro ball. He remains a active role in
the community of his adopted state.

That being
said: should anybody in Indiana or Louisiana be upset
if Peyton did a promo for a professional team in
Tennessee that did not compete with either the Colts or the
Saints? If he said something bad about a team, that would
be different, but what if he just said something
good about one of our teams?

Just some extra information, I believe a couple
of weeks ago in the paper it was talking about Mason
whenever he was here when Vokoun got hurt. It said
something to the affect that he had not even finished one
whole game. He had started in a game but him and the
other team's goalie got into quite a fight. And they
were both thrown out of the game. And that was the
only game he had somewhat played in. But maybe he has
played since then. But he seems to be really good.
Watching him at practice he seems to be sure of himself
and has a good relationship with the players.

Here's my two cents. As is obvious with my Yahoo
ID, I see no conflict in supporting two teams in the
same league. Lets look at the bigger picture here.
Eddie supporting the Blue Jackets is going to help them
succeed at the ticket window. A successful franchise in
Columbus (or anywhere else for that matter) is good for
hockey. What's good for hockey is good for the Predators.
Any time a celebrity uses his or her visibility to
promote this sport, the fans should return the favor with
a positive response. By the way, for anyone who is
curious, I will be cheering for the Devils in 81 games
this year.

I'm not missing the point! Eddie didn't make a
promo here pushing the BJ's he make it there we're not
competing with them for ticket sales. Even if we had a CFL
team it wouldn't be a "conflict". I've got a friend
who moved to the Richmond area but got a vanity plate
that says "PR8TRS" and has Preds stuff on his car, is
he some traitor for not supporting the Caps? I think
not.

Actually, Eddie George was born and raised in New
Jersey. He only came to Columbus while he was enrolled at
Ohio State University. He's very loyal to OSU and
Columbus, but I've also heard him say that he's thinking of
settling in Nashville after his career is
over.

There...does that make the water even murkier? ;)

either way but he's from Columbus. To use your argument,
it's a slap in the face to the Titans if Cale Hulse

What was the promo anyway?

Trust me....my eyes are wide open...you are the
one missing the point, it has nothing to do with
someone supporting their hometown, but it has everything
to do with a player who makes his living in my city
who then chooses to ignore the fact that it is a slap
in the face to the NHL team he shares the city with
to promote another team in the same league.....think
about it, what would the reaction of the many Titan
fans be if one of the Predators went on TV supporting
the Jacksonville Jaguars, even though it is unlikely,
it is the same thing we are talking about here.

Does it bother you that most of the Predators
spend their off-season back in their home country? You
think they don't support their local teams/businesses?
Open your eyes these guys, be the Titans or Predators
have no particular allegiance to Nashville. They're
not from here and could be in Calgary or Cincinnati
tomorrow.

Eddie, Frank Wycheck and other Titans players
have supported the Predators by attendence at games
and by wearing Predators apparel in front of the
press. Wycheck almost always wears a Preds hat during
press conferences even during all the Superbowl.

I think the Predators and the Titans do a good job
of supporting each other. This is good for both
teams and the city. There is no reason why the Titans
and Predators need to compete with each other. The
can co-exist and pump each other up.

I
personally do not have a problem with Eddie doing a
commercial for a first year franchise getting a fan base,
but I understand where you are coming from. I do not
see it as being "against" the Predators. This is just
my opinion.

Nashville and should be more sensitive to the fact that he
shares that city with an NHL team, this was a bad move

Eddie's heart is still in Columbus. It was where
he first made the national scene, with Ohio State.
He has a home there. When his playing days are over
that is where he will be. Just because we are madly in
love with the Middle Tennessee area doesn't mean
everyone is. Be glad that Eddie and the other Titans are
helping a lot of charities while they are here (believe
it or not, most of their good deeds aren't reported
on the evening news).

The folks you should be
mad at are the local media. Channels 2,4 and 5 spent
over half of their sports shows last night talking
about every little useless detail about the Titans they
could put together. They only spent a couple minutes on
the Preds. And even less time on local high school
and colleges (unless you consider UT a local
college).

I heard Terry Crisp comment on Mason recently. He
said he demonstrated in camp this year that he has
what it takes to be an NHL backup goalie. I would
think Terry would be a good judge of his abilities.

Who knows whether or not Mason has what it takes
- seems to me, this will be his opportunity to
demonstrate if he, in fact, does have what it takes
(obviously, he's the only one capable of answering that
question). From his improvement and his performance in
recent camps and practices, he's looking pretty solid.
Good luck to him and here's hoping Dunham and Vokoun
get healthy quickly.

Mason has been called up and Vokoun is playing on

No doubt that Vokoun earned his #1 star on
Friday. I did see that his triple save did make ESPN's
Sportscenter's (and NHL Tonight's) "plays of the day." I am
somewhat concerned about Vokoun playing on his foot
fracture. I just hope that this injury doesn't linger, or
become worse because of his playing.

Not that I
am disappointed by the way the team rallied for the

get it in.

Comparision:
First 10 games

>> the memory of the game was Vokoun
'STONING' Pavel Bure on that late game
breakaway<<

I agree with you there, Fang. After Dunham went
out, the team seemed to lose heart, but that trio of
saves on the breakaway made everyone feel that we could
still win the game. Our goaltending has kept us in the
game on many nights when the offense was sputtering,
and last night was no different. It was great to see
the guys rally and play like a team. We came out with
a point that we probably didn't deserve, but we'll
take it.

I was glad to see the youngsters like
Hartnell and Fitzpatrick play so well. The one that
disappointed me was David Legwand. He looked as if his head
wasn't the game for most of the night. Other than his
assist on the Walker goal, he looked sluggish
lackadasical. Do you think he was upset about being benched or
does the new kid on the block (Hartnell) have him
worried?

From my vantage point in section 307 row C, the
memory of the game was Vokoun 'STONING' Pavel Bure on
that late game breakaway. I went absolutely nuts! I
hope it made a highlight reel somewhere because it was
possibly the best save I've ever seen Vokoun make. He then
fended off two rebound shots a mere second later.
Incredible action!

On the defensive side of things,
Myhres looked ok, but nothing to write home about.
Fitzpatrick (Rory)played a solid game with no mistakes. I'm
so happy for Hartnell making the cut in Poile's
eyes. This kid's going to be a star folks! I'm high on
Skrastins, the guy knows where to be and is seldom caught
out of position. He plays smart hockey. We need more
D like Karlis. Lastly, I'm still waiting on Myhres
to throw down with someone. Every player in the NHL
knows his reputation and strength. Perhaps this is why
nobody seems to be taking runs at any of our guys?
[hey...works for me]

We needed the psych boost from a
good come from behind game like last night, especially
after the emotional let downs of the prior two games.
We are for real this year. And I am loving every
