Quite a bit of news today...

Wow! Mark Eaton got quite a raise. And well deserved, IMO. $400,000
to $1 million. Nice! And Shane Hnidy signed as well. Marek Zidlicky
is our only regular defenseman yet to sign, and he didn't file for
arbitration, so that's good.

Eaton, Dan Hamhuis, Hnidy, Kimmo Timonen and Zidlicky; that's what
our defense looks like so far. Unless Jason York is brought back to
the team before next season, I'd vote for Andrew Hutchinson to for
sixth defenseman. I don't see anybody else really being ready to
challenge for the spot.

Mike Danton has plead guilty to hiring someone to kill his agent. An

And, the new WHA team in Quebec City has decided on a name. They'll
be known as the Quebec Nordiks. NORDIKS?! :-o

The people of Quebec City want their team back, and I don't blame
them. It was my team too. :-( Unfortunately, the NHL doesn't want
the WHA to use the name "Nordiques".

I'm not sure who exactly owns that name; either the Colorado
Avalanche or the NHL. But the NHL apparently doesn't want the league
to use "Nordiks" either. Here's the article from Slam!...
