Hello Anna! Yeah, I don't know what happened here. I'm the only one
who's made a post since the Predators' last playoff game. No post-
playoff discussion on how the team did, or any seeming interest in
the rest of the playoffs, or speculation on next season's team. It's
been much better at the Ultra Preds Fans Yahoo! Group...

The Nashville Predators Club here was the original Predators Yahoo!
forum, but took a big hit a while back when Yahoo! merged their
Clubs with their Groups. Since this Club was so active, it took
Yahoo! a long time to get it back up and running, and a lot of
members disappeared in the wait.
>> OH MY GOSH, the summer is so HORRIBLE with no NHL games. I mean
my hockey season pretty much ended when the Preds made the playoffs
and they lost to Detroit. I WAS SO SIKED about them being in the
playoffs. I think they gave ONE HELL OF AN EFFORT. <<
Although I love hockey with a passion (so much so it depresses me,
since I'd rather be playing than watching), the summers never get to
me much. I'm just worried about when "next season" will be, what
with the current situation between the league and the players union.
If they can't come to an agreement soon, and there's no hockey for a
while, it'll hurt a lot of teams, including Nashville.
>> I was SO GLAD when Calgary beat the Red wings, because I think it
humbled them a bit--The red wings I mean. I hope there arent a load
of red wing fans, but they are sortof a cocky team. They have won
the cup so many times (I FEEL LIKE, HEY GIVE SOMEBODY ELSE A
CHANCE)!!! <<
As a Canadian, and a fan of underdogs and teams who actually work as
a team, I was rooting for Calgary all the way. As for the Red Wings,
I love the rivalry that's developed between them and the Predators.
I don't mind Wings fans too much - especially not the ones who've
been fans long enough to remember when they stunk - but I abhor the
self-proclaimed "Pred Wing" fans. Idiots.
>> I swear, I predicted that Tampa would win--the entire way. <<
No need to curse. ;-) But before the playoffs started, I also picked
Tampa Bay to win the Stanley Cup. That is, if Nashville didn't make
it to the finals. Tampa and Calgary are great examples of teams that
are actual "teams". Everyone on both rosters contributed to their
team's success in the playoffs, no matter how much ice-time they
actually got. And while I was more familiar with the Flames roster,
and was rooting for them to win the Cup, I was REALLY happy to see
Dave Andreychuk win it with Tampa after 22 years in the league.
>> I was REALLY REALLY sad when Toronto got eliminated. I am a
pretty big leafs fan also, and I know they have been trying for the
cup for a long time. <<
I root for all the Canadian teams to do well, and while I've tended
to root for the Senators over the Leafs over the past few years, I
like quite a few Toronto players - former Nordiques Mats Sundin and
Owen Nolan (I'm still a Nords fan at heart; I hate Colorado) and
former Predators captain Tom Fitzgerald (who was one of the most
consistent Maple Leafs all regular season).
I was just hoping for a good series between Ottawa and Toronto, and
for the better team to win. The series could have been better - the
Sens didn't play nearly as well as they can - but the better team
did win, IMO. The Toronto/Philadelphia series, on the other hand,
was great. Philadelphia/Tampa Bay was a very different series, but
excellent.
As for the San Jose Sharks, they were supposed to be going through
someone of a rebuilding season. Or at least a remodelling. But they
were another example of an actual "team", so I wasn't surprised that
they did so well. And while I'm not familiar with Sharks fans, I'm
of the opinion that the fans of any team are just as, if not more
important than the players in creating an identity for the team.
Which is one of the main reasons I fell in love the Predators; the
fans in Nashville are wonderful! I'd love to visit someday.
Anyhoo, welcome to the Nashville Predators Club, Anna. And check out
the other Group I linked to above. Let's hope that the league and
players union will come to an agreement very soon. Then, before you
know it, training camp will be here, and soon after that, the Preds
will be starting their seventh season. :-D
Anyhoo...
