[From Al Strachan's Toronto Sun article "Trying Times for Hockey and
its Fans" (Dec02/03) - quotes from Colin Campbell, NHL VP of hockey
operations...]
"It's natural to criticize," he said, "but what we have to figure
out is, how can we make the game better? And what is just
criticism?"
A lot of fans complain about the high salaries.
"We pay hockey players too much, but it's not their fault," he
said. "That may be the cause of some of the bitterness of some of
the fans out there, but the added money has made these guys much
better athletes.
[Pardon me, but... MY ASS!]
...
"The added money has provided the ability to add coaches and
scouting and all these things. It's a robotic sport out there. How
do we make it more exciting to the fans? We've got to get up with
the times."
[Huh?]
