I am glad that Gaylord is less involved with the Predators. They have
made so many bad business decisions in the past few years including
their running of Opryland for all those years to building a mall in
its place.
As for the team staying here.... Playoffs or no, the fans need to
support this team. The biggest issue this past season for the Preds
(and other teams) attendence with 9/11. Of course lives lost and
terrorism on US soil is more important than hockey attendence.
With the Titans season in the toilet early on last year, I think the
Preds attendence would have gone up earlier than past years when the
Titans were in the playoffs.
Bottom line, this is not a big corporate area. Just like previously
mentioned, many of the companies are southern-based and support
football and auto racing. Many do not even support the Titans, they
send their money to that college in Knoxville. What's it called?
That's the sad part of the corperate support of sports in Tennessee.
These people see orange. This is evident in many areas including the
media.
If the Preds are to survive, the fan base need to pick up the slack.
And this fan base needs to be thick-skinned, not bailing every time
there is a losing streak.
