The New Tri Club B-Fit B-Day Challenge Hits the ground Running, and Swimming, and Biking!
Boulder, Colorado March 24, 2008 --- Imagine celebrating your health, and your fitness on your birthday by swimming, running, and biking your age. That's exactly what triathlon club athletes are doing all across America. They are among the very first age-group athletes to take up the Tri Club B-Fit B-Day Challenge. The athletes take their age and:
1) Swim the number of miles in the first number
2) Run the number of miles in the second number
3) Bike the number of miles in the combined num ber
So a 45-year-old athlete would:
1) Swim 4 miles
2) Run 5 miles
3) Bike 45 miles
It took exactly one day from when the Triathlon Club B-Fit B-Day website (http://www.BFitBDay.com) was launched before a 32-year-old Colorado athlete celebrating her birthday completed the first Gold challenge.
Here's what she said about the B-Fit B-Day Challenge when asked how hard it was:
"Hard? Mostly the scheduling for me because of the kids. The run was a quick 20 degree snow packed run up and down the bike path. I decided to break the swim up: I haven't been in the water since Sept 1 and I couldn't schedule a full 2hrs of pool time around kids and work. Since I don't have a computer on the bike, but I have a good feel for speed/cadence, I decided 2 hours would cover 16mph=32miles. I threw in a little extra for good measure. I bel ieve it was the enormous piece of cake fueling the ride."
She went for the Gold Challenge and set the First Open Challenge Age-Group Record for a 32-year-old women at:
Swim: 2:13:42
Bike: 2:06:08
Run: 16:23
Total 4:35
"I'm so thrilled that four triathlon club athletes are using the challenge as way to celebrate their health and fitness on their birthday," said Roman Mica the founder of the B-Fit B-Day Challenge. "We really hope that this new challenge will encourage people to celebrate their birthday in a unique and healthy way...a special way so they can share their health and happiness with a community of caring endurance athletes."
The B-Fit B-Day challenge is completely free and open to any Triathlon club member (no matter what age) who wants to challenge themselves on their birthday, Mica added.
Mica along with the B-Fit B-Day sponsors have put out three challenges: Gold, Silver and Bronze to all Triathlon Clubs. To successfully complete the Challenge athletes must:
Bronze: Do all three (swim/bike/run) during the week of their Birthday.
Silver: Do all three (swim/bike/run) in the 72 hours (three days) before, after, or during their Birthday.
Gold: Do all three (swim/bike/run) in 24-hours to celebrate their Birthday!
Important Note: Since "0" Birthdays like 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and so on are important milestones the "0" represents a 10. This means that on those "0" Birthdays athletes must celebrate this big milestone by running ten miles.
The B-Fit B-Day Challenge is a Boulder, Colorado based worldwide endurance sports challenge made up of age-group athletes. Membership is free and open to anyone with a passion for endurance sport.
