OK, Gary, you're my main man then for tonight's indoor. I'll leave the pinnies on the stage. Thanks! I'll also try calling the woman who books in gym on Franklyn St and see if I can get it for next Monday for the next while. Those of you who play co-ed will be on the turf field on Tuesday, March 31st for our switch to our spring/summer schedule so you probably won't want indoor the night before, but co-eds can have the other half of this gym until then.
Subject: [nanaimocoedsoccer] indoor tomorrow night
I've got to leave to Vancouver tomorrow afternoon for my work - if you guys want to play, I need one of you to oversee collecting fees. I can leave the pinny bag with the indoor ball on the stage in the gym. Someone can walk it over to the school office (in the foyer) and leave the bag in there afterwards. The only thing I have to do is ask our janitor, Josh, to open the door for you guys.
There will be no indoor during our school's spring break, which starts after this weekend. Spring break is two weeks.
I can probably rent Franklyn Street gym for Monday nights, as I was planning on doing that for a month or so for women's indoor. There are two gyms in there, however, so co-eds/guys could play in the other gym at the same time as the women. Please let me know if you're interested. If I can get the woman on the phone tomorrow I could possibly have it rented for next Monday.

Yes, outdoor soccer at Merle Logan is on. Carson is kindly picking up the pinnies and the balls/gloves and will collect your drop-in fees.
I will be there at 10pm to pick up. I think the lights go off at 10:30pm but I can't last that long, so if you could be finished by 10:15pm that would be great - otherwise perhaps someone can drop the gear off and I don't care then if you play in the dark!!

Normally we change from playing this current schedule to our spring/summer schedule in the month of April. The soccer office has asked me when we're switching to Tuesdays on the turf field this year, given the last week of March/first week of April having funny dates for our soccer.
The last day of March falls on a Tuesday (31st) and Friday is April 3rd. If we were to "officially" switch to Tuesday games in April, there'd be no outdoor that week. My question is then, which do you want for our turnover; Tuesday March 31st or play on Friday, April 3rd and make the switch to Tuesdays for April-August starting the following week?
Whatever we decide, we'll have to tell everybody the week before that we're making the season change, otherwise we'll have a lousy turnout! (Not that that would be different from all the other season changes...)
It would appear on the Nanaimo Youth Soccer Club website that all fields are closed due to the snow! So unless someone can miraculously tell me that Merle Logan is free of snow then it seems that there won't be any soccer tonight.

Dear Kirsty,
I was very pleased to be able to clarify the Oliver situation.
Next week I will pose the questions - was Merle Logan involved in a Turf War - did May Bennett 'bend it like Beckham' - was Harry Wipper on grass - and any other questions that may arise from our curiosity!
I am going back under my rock now, Cheers, Roy.

Hey, wasn't Oliver Reed in the movie Oliver Twist? He was the scary, angry man who beat the woman to death?
Anyway, thanks for clearing that up like only you can. You have a unique knack for clearing things up and leaving us more confused than before.
Subject: RE: [nanaimocoedsoccer] Friday night soccer
Oliver Reed was a hokey British actor who was famous for a nude scene he did fighting another nude man in a cave. It was very controversial for its time ~ 1970's , but in many people's opinions, he wasn't even very good at posing nude. "Not very lifelike" some people said ------the mind boggles! haha! I think you meant Oliver Woods, but I don't think there was any controversy about him or her. Sorry, just thought I would get our Olivers sorted out - and then there was Oliver Twist, but that's another story which I will save for later, Cheers, Roy.

Snow on the field at Merle Logan means the field will be **CLOSED**
I can't imagine the field clearing of snow by tomorrow night, so that means you don't have outdoor soccer tomorrow. I did hear that there's indoor somewhere on Friday nights, so maybe you could check and see if anyone knows about that. It could be at the new Oliver Reed facility, or maybe Barsby....

Hi guys, I am taking off to Vancouver on Friday after work, so I need to give the equipment to someone, as well as the task of collecting drop in fees.
Please email me if you are able to do this, and thanks!
Yes, there's soccer tonight, 8:30pm Merle Logan. I will be there, perhaps will drag my fat backside on to the field to play. If you're lucky I won't be on your team.

Hi guys,Â
Â
Soccer is on this Friday of course, 8:30pm. If we get a large turnout again I'd like to break it into two games. Let's have the people who want a harder, faster game to play at the far end of the field and the normal ;) people at the near end.
Â
Ali has volunteered to take your $3 drop in fee and to hand out the pinnies.
