Mettle and Might II returns in a week and a half to the Connecticut
Renaissance Faire in Hebron, CT. The Tournament will be held on
Sunday Oct 8th and will consist of Scottish Single Stick, Aluminum and
Full Armored combat. Last year we had a fantastic turnout, gave away
some great prizes and had over a hundred people watching us do our
stuff making this one of the largest venues for the Armored Combat
League in New England. We are hoping to do even better this year to
make this tournament a fixture that fighters and patrons alike look
forward to but we'll need your help to do that.
Cooler still, the event takes place at one of the largest renaissance
faires in New England, giving us thousands of potential spectators.
Admission to the faire is free for combatants and their squire,
meaning you can see one of the best medieval shows in New England
before becoming part of that show by introducing real tournament style
fighting to the CTRF guests.
The armored portion of this tournament will be an International
Armored Combat League event, and all rules for the league will apply.
For a full listing of those rules go to www.knightlyarts.com
The Scottish Single Stick and Aluminum Tournaments will be double
elimination and will each be their own separate entity with champions
for each.
Admission is just $10.00, that includes entry into all three events
(or as many of those three as you wish)as well as free entry for the
day for yourself and your squire to the Connecticut Renaissance Faire
(normal entry for faire is $15.00 each).
In order to get free entry to the faire, fighters and squires MUST
show up at the entry gate between 9-10AM on Sunday Oct 8th. Register
at our sign in table and you'll be given a pass for the day and your
fighter information.
The Aluminum and Scottish Single Stick Matches will go from 11AM until
1PM. There will be a break for the combatants to prepare for the
next tournament and at 3:00, the armored combat will begin.
We have added a new element to the tournament this year. We will have
a professional Master of Ceremonies keeping things moving and lively
while the marshals focus on the matches. To that end, anybody who
knows they are going to be there for any of the tournaments should
email dan@... to let me know you are going to be there. When
you email us, please tell us your real name, what town you are from,
what school, if any you come from, what name you want to fight under,
how long you have been fighting for and, if you have one, what your
coat of arms is? Our master of ceremonies will use this information
to prepare something inspirational ahead of time for you. Advance
registrants will get a packet with all of the details of the day for
advance planning.
