open thoughts on tournament styles

DUEL, only one point needed to win, but with two wins against that opponent
to win the round, right? Is there thrusting allowed? Fighting at
half-sword disallowed? Half-sword being only allowed in defensive manuvers
would be good.

10 STRIKES, I take it that feining is at the Marshall's discretion if it is
a swing or not.

TIME FIGHT, Is the fight stopped to recognize each point? If so, it will
take a long time, if not, than there may be different scores from each
marshall. Maybe take the average of the scores. Easy markings to
distinguish between fighters, such as ribbons etc.
Fight until the whistle. When the whistle blows -you stop.

HERO PIT- please elaborate.

TEAM DUEL, So, the team takes the bracket position as a unit, the team then
either moves on or gets eliminated as a team. Right?
-I like it.

BRIDGE, do doel rules also apply or is it just to be cleared off of the
bridge? Same disallowments as duel? or is there grappling to get them off
of the bridge?

What kind of tournaments can and must be held? Can I run just an individual
tournament or does there have to be team contests? How many different
events constitute a tournament-is there a minimum?

Point standings should be per event ex. someone could be first in points in
the duel catagory but forth in the hero pit. There should be a 'Grand
Knight' standing- average of someones points with a minimum of three
catagories ex. duel, hero pit, and 10 strikes. If they have all four, it is
still the average of all of them, not their top three. Individual points
should not be linked to team points.

Can a team have more than four members, but only enter four per tournament?
If so, do they have to be the same four? My thoughts are that not all
members will be able to make it every time. Can you adopt a stand-in if
your team is short a combatant? If so, that 'stand-in' cannot be currently
competeing for another team in that same tourny.
Four with optional stand-ins sounds like the way to go. Teams must consist
of four members. In the event that a team is found short a combatant at an
event, the may choose to elect a fourth member as a 'stand-in'. A combatant
may only be a member of one team annualy; save for a regional 'Champions
Team'.

hmmmmm.........

Answers below - ... Correct - except that we count losses not wins so both people can lose if they double hit. This is to encourage good swordsmanship. Is...
