Well the weather did not cooperate with us again…icy roads made the day bad for travel!  We only had 6 people for the rollers and that was all.  For the CompuTrainer morning races, we had 13, and last but not least we had 1 for the log rollers and only 2 for the 2-up 3D CompuTrainer 3 mile flat TT.  We will start with the results for the morning CompuTrainer races on a 9.1-mile course:

The under 25 min challenge went to John Grice for the second heat and Bill Ford for the third heat…they both won the $25 gas card.  After that we did the 3 mile flat TT on the 2-up CompuTrainer in 3D and Peter set the mark for the day with a 470 watt 28 mile an hour ride in just over 6 minutes.  Jenn Plambeck se the womens mark with an 8:28 minute race.  For the logs Tracy Thompson brought Pugsley (his phat tire Surly) and did the 4 minute challenge to see how far in distance he could go and it was .614 miles…and totally inpiring to watch.  I’ve got some video of this and will get it posted to my web site soon.  On to the rollers:

Tracy Thompson  Atlas                   5:23.8

I’ve also loaded photos from the indoor racing at   http://new.photos.yahoo.com/bcycleracr/albums/ and I will get everthing up on the website.  We might be adding another event in Feb…so please stay tuned!!

Tristan Schouten named to US Cyclocross Team

USA Cycling announced their automatic and discretionary nominations in
the elite men's category for the 2007 UCI Cyclocross World
Championships scheduled for January 27-28 in Hooglede-Gits, Belgium.
The Midwest's own Tristan Schouten (Sheboygan, WI/Trek-VW) was one of
the discretionary picks. Schouten's success this season included a
15th place finish at the national championships and several top-ten
finishes in UCI races throughout the US. Schouten also won both WCA
races he entered this season with impressive victories at Badger Cross
   and Estabrook.

All discretionary picks to the US Cyclocross team must pay for the
cost of the trip package themselves. Fundraising efforts are underway
to help Tristan with these costs. If you would like to help Tristan
get to Belgium there are a number of ways you can donate. You can go
to Tristan's blog at tristanschouten.blogspot.com and follow the
directions for making a direct donation. You can also visit
madcross.org and purchase a Wisconsin Cyclocross DVD, calendar, poster
or photos. All profits from these items will go directly to Tristan.
Your support is greatly appreciated.

ADDITIONAL INFO:  The course for this weekend is called Radar Lake and is 9.1 miles long with the biggest climb at 5.7%.  We went short so everyone could race multiple races with all 4 styles; 8-UP MultiRider, Rollers, Log Rollers and 2-UP CompuTrainer in 3D.

We have the 2nd race of the Iowa Roller Race Championship Series this Sunday at Donnie’s Indoor Cycling Experience in Moline, IL.  We also have week 6 of the Winter Indoor Racing Series starting at 9am.  We will be doing races at 9, 10 and 11am on the eight person CompuTrainer until noon (PLEASE CALL OR E-MAIL TO PRE-REGISTER TO GET YOUR SPOT).  And then we will start the roller races on Greg Harper’s two up Kreitler alloy rollers w/flywheel & headwind fan for a 2 mile Time Trial with about a 2% grade.  We also will have log rollers for the MTB’er or the Cross rider and we will be doing the two person CompuTrainer on the on the 3D version with a totally flat 3 mile course.  Have you ever trained with wattage?  Come in and test yourself on the CompuTrainer to see your pre season numbers.  In the reminder for the races this weekend I will post what the course will be for the Winter Indoor Racing Series.  In addition, remember that the morning series is non-sanctioned, so there is no need for a USCF license.  That means all riders are welcome…including the non-racer who thinks they might be interested in racing but unsure of their skill in a fast outside environment.  That means effort with NO CRASHES!!  See where you stack up with everyone else!

With the ability to come and get in 3 or 4 races…the trip will be worth the drive.  Come in and be CHALLENGED!!

The competition is starting to get a lot stiffer!!  We had 20 people show up and race throughout the whole weekend last week!  It was awesome!  Keep checking my web page at www.DiceTraining.com to see the results from the weekend and throughout the week as DICE comes in and trains on select courses.  This weeks race course is 13.8 miles and fairly challenging with the biggest climb being 8.1%.  The gas card challenge will be a sub 36 minutes….anybody out there got what it takes to get their gas paid for?  That means anyone from Des Moines could get a free trip!!  How about Chicago, Wisconsin or Peoria?  The races start at 9am both Saturday and Sunday and there are three heats each morning.  The winner of each heat gets $5 in lottery tickets literally worth millions! :>)  In the announcement  for this weekends race on my web site I will post the course profile…come and experience the challenge and excitement of indoor racing!!

Hiya UIC folks,

I'm still hoping to get some bike-family for my open unit--
current CL listing here:

http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/apa/251686374.html

Once again, large garage available for bike workshops, sales, and such,
and a seperate closed-off/locked storage area make it perfect for

Hi,
I did a search for myself and by entering my last name nothing appeared. When I entered my name E.J. it did show up. Is there a way one could search by using a member's last name too?
Also, on the listing of members, few have their locale or other demographic data included. It might be usefull if they added a bit of data so for example folks in the same location can contact each other.  Perhaps an email to everyone to update their bio would be useful.

What address do I refer folks to who might be interested in joining. I have the ear of over 1000 riders here in SE Mi and at least a few are USCF members...

Seasons Greetings!
EJ Levy

Hiya UIC folks,

I'm still hoping to get some bike-family for my open unit--
current CL listing here:

http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/apa/251686374.html

Once again, large garage available for bike workshops, sales, and such,
and a seperate closed-off/locked storage area make it perfect for
bike-peeps.

Join us for a leisurely ride from the Community House in Birmingham,
Michigan starting at NOON. The distance will be minimally 20 miles but
the distance and effort will be determined by the weather and the
riders who show up with the pace to be pleasant. Mountain bikes or
Cross bikes are recommended as we may traverse dirt roads at times.

Contact me with questions: 248-388-3854 cell. A tentative X-mas eve
ride may go off if I am contacted soon. Start time would be 8:30 or
9pm also from Birmingham or the area.

I just wanted to remind everyone that we are still running the free
on-line testing site for Cat C race officials (uscf & norba)
certification. You can check out the program at usacofficials.com. It
is a very simple program - we posted the slides from the cat c seminar
(90+!), as well as the on-line test. Anyone can use the program, but
be sure to get Shawn Farrell's (USAC Tech Director) approval for this.
There is also a separate test for current USCF officials who want to
get NORBA Regional C certified. Please feel free to contact me if you
have any questions.

If you visited out the mwcycling.com web site recently, you may have
seen the banner for "drivewithcare.org". It is a great tongue-in-cheek
web site that is run by the Chicago Bike Federation, and is a mock
advertisement for roadside memorials for bikers killed by cars. Check
it out!

Hi, Gus Hemingway here. I'm the current president of

got Students, Faculty/Staff, and alumni as members. We
are a small club that's just finishing up our first

do have backgrounds in cross, road, and off road
racing. Our web site is

Greetings, all! My name is Eric Goodwin and I am the Managing Director
of Team Clif Bar Midwest, based in Chicago.

Information on our squad can be found at
http://www.teamclifbarmidwest.com

We are entering our sophomore season with a roster of four Cat 2 and
seven Cat 3 riders from the Chicagoland area. We had a great rookie
campaign, picking up some junior state titles and a few big Cat 3 wins
in August. We recently resigned Clif Bar & Co. as our title sponsor
through 2008.

We do a number of off the bike initiatives to help the environment and
our community, such as off-setting our vehicle mileage with wind-
energy credits. I'd welcome anyone to learn more about the programs,
as as they really have helped our program gain added exposure and
value for our sponsors.

Our big task in 2007 will be to hold our first road race - something a
forum like this could be a great informational resource for! Looking
forward to learning from all of you. Happy holidays, and see you on
the roads! - Eric

We have it scheduled for August 10-12.
August 10- 50+ mile Road Race in the evening
August 11- Early morning 25 mile Team Time trial
August 11 - 50+ mile Road Race in the evening
August 12 - 50+ mile Road Race in the morning.

The road races are hilly but for some reason the Team Time Trial seems to be the
hardest
event...something to do with working together for 25 miles. ;-)

Dear All:

Thanks for joining this discussion group so quickly. At your
convenience, please send me the url for your team or promoter web
site, which I will enter on mwcycling.com. If you could give us a
reciprocal link, I'd appreciate it greatly.

If you are interested in writing a short team profile, please do not
hesitate to pass those along with any pictures. We can create a folder
for team/club profiles, and do a monthly poll/voting for a club of the
month and get some donated swag.

Thanks again,

This group thing is a great idea. We used it for the OVCX Series and it got a
lot
accomplished between the race directors. Anyway, Mike Hewitt here, one of the
old
timers in cycling. I know many of you as either racers or I have worked as an
official in
your area.

I own/run 2WheelSports which is both a business and a USCF Club. This year I'm
hosting
the Louisville (KY) Firefighters team which has about 20 people on the team.
Mostly tri-
folks but some are making the cross over to pure cycling and giving up the
getting wet
and running.

My business 2WheelSports grew out of my frustrations as an official. Too many
events
worked with poor registration staff, bad hand writing and working off the back
of pickups.
What we do is provide finish line services at a reasonable rate to the grass
roots promoter.
We offer both web based and onsite computerized registration, stage, camera,
inflatable
finish line arch like the Tours use now, sound system, yadda, yadda. We try to
make it an
easy day or days for the promoter. Enough commerical... if interested contact
me offline.

As a club we promote several events. In the Spring we are part of the
Kentuckiana Spring
Training Series which has a history of about 27 years. We also promote with the
Texas
Roadhouse and Papa John's teams the Louisville Metro Police Foundation weekend.
It has a
nice purse and the best thing is GREAT police support for the entire weekend.
Shutting
streets for a Police fundraiser....hmmm. Not a problem.

We also promote a Cat 3-4 only stage race. Last year's got cancelled for various
reasons
but we are planning again for this year. It consist of 3 road races and a team
time trial.

In cyclocross we were part of the 15 race OVCX series and next year we will host
a USGP in
Louisville, KY. Louisville may soon be the home to a permanent cyclocross
venue. A
country club could not pay it's taxes so the city got the property. We held the
Kentucky
District CX there. Nothing like doing cross on a golf course. It's in
discussion with the
Parks Dept who now owns the property.

I love this sport and the people in it. Looking forward to working with
everyone. Happy
Holidays!

Mark Corroto here from Breakaway Cycling Team, Delaware, Ohio. We are
both an new and an old team. About 7 years ago, riders established the
Breakaway team, it was absorbed into another local team last year
(2006), but has been revived for the 2007 season. We have approximately
50 members. Eveything from ice cream social riders to Cat. 3 racers.
The racing team competes with both junior riders, Cat. 3-4-5 racers
both men and women and Masters. We have some competitive Mountain
bikers too.

We schedule two regular training rides from Delaware, OH - tuesday and
thursday evenings at 6pm - the Tuesday is an every man for himself
shred fest and thursday a more moderate pace with some town limit
sprints thrown in for good measure.

I look forward to this new list

thanks
