First of all I want to thank everyone for a great turnout for this event, especially to the out-of-towners who traveled to come and race with us!  We had riders from IL, IA IN and WI ranging in ages from 12 to 80 years old.  We had 112 racers doing 117 rides.  The day stayed beautiful the whole day starting with 70 degrees  at 9 am and only climbing to 75 by 1 pm and the wind started off calm at 9 am and only got to a WNW wind of 5mph by 1 pm.  So...we thought today might see some course records fall.  That held true for the women with Tara Sheetz, from Roscoe, IL. besting her previous course record of 63:00.58 to a new record of 60:04.46...almost a full 3 minutes.  Congratulations Tara!  On the men's side we had some major players showing up but it was Paul Deninger, from Iowa City, IA coming close to his own course record of 54:20.00 and just falling short with a 54:24.67.  Great job Paul!

Second, I want to thank my sponsors and volunteers with whom this race could not be possible!  Thanks goes out to The DICE Cycling Team, The Quad Cities Bicycle Club, Profile Design, Sigma, Park Tool USA, and John Krehbiel and Lisa Wessling...thank you so much!!  My outstanding volunteers were as follows...Terry Burke for course set-up, Mike Desch-Timing, Frank Martin-Wrangler, William Huntsberger and Dave McCoy were my holders, and last but not least were Lisa Wessling doing an awesome job with registration with her helper Jennifer Ainsworth!  Without you seven, I could not have pulled it off!  Thank you guys, you did an incredible job!!  And now a big thanks goes to Bob Lundberg for organizing the TT series throughout the whole season, bringing awards, supplies and people to the events, and, for doing a great job officiating and doing timing for both of my TT's!  Thank you!  I also want to thank the town of Cordova, Chief Whallen and Sgt. Guinn of the Cordova Police Dept for corner marshalling  and Pam Bruner and the Cordova Civic Center...of which I have already reserved for next year's TT.

Lastly, since this was also the QCBC Championships, I want to congratulate our winners.  The QCBC Women's Champ was Denise Duethman from Bettendorf, IA with a winning time of 68:11.23 just 7 seconds shy of a new course record.  On the men's side...I first want to apologize to John Grice of Kewanee, IL for not getting the results right and listing him 8th overall QCBC member to a sounding round of BOO's.  He actually came in first, as he has since 2003 with a new record time of 56:08.76 beating his old record of 56:53.00 from 2003.

Again, thanks for making this event what it is and I look forward to RACING with you next year!  That's right...I will posting times as well!  Have a safe rest of the racing season!  GO FAST!!

Best rides,

Donnie Miller
