If the weather ever improves I'll be back to my regular bike commute which puts me going over Namsan both morning and evening.  I'm definitely looking to extend those evening commutes a couple days a week.

Anyone interested in mid-week rides on Namsan?  Something like 2, 3 or 4 laps at a fairly fast pace one or two nights a week.

Cheers,

Duncan

I'm really hoping that we can get together a really laid back group
of "built for comfort" riders who will ride as slowly and stop to
rest as often as I do, so I can quit wearing myself out attempting
(and failing) to keep up with the masochistic group.

Jim, have you got a new bike?  If the Giant is the same blue bike you used to ride then I'd respectfully suggest that is more of an xc/all-mountain bike rather than freeride.  Maybe Antonio should have a look it.

Cheers,

Duncan

I'm looking forward to meeting all the new riders at the bbq day.  I'm really hoping we can get together a really keen group of riders who will push each other into shape.

Season's opening with BBQ at Bundang is great, but I'll know only in the middle of next week if I'll go or not - it happened that the same weekend is also a Meet & Greet Climb of foreign climbing community in Korea, so I need to define my priorities for these events..

Tom, do you have any info when OD marathon will be this year? I definetely want to participate, but I've been out of saddle since November, so I'm totally out of any shape and a bit worried how much time is left for training..

Alex.

You can't begin to imagine how difficult it is for me to not jump all
over this wonderful opportunity that you've presented here Hector.
But I've been repeatedly chastized for being less than sensitive, so
I'll try to pass this one up. We'll see how the day goes.

Alex,

I was also aware of the meet and greet for the climbing community but it looks like an overnight trip so I can't do that.  As much as I'd like to see you at the Bundang ride, I'd like you to go to Climbing meet and greet so I can use you for climbing contacts in the future. I want to get rock climbing in my regular weekend plans along with the biking. OD Bike Marathon is mid-May as I recall. I'll verify and let you know. I hope to identify others interested in the OD Bike Marathon so we can get longer rides organized for that sub-group. Paul Choi will ride this year as well as Duncan and Adam, if he's still here, but I don't know who else yet. Maybe I can get the new Canadian guy up for it.  He certainly looks like a rider but I haven't seen him in action yet. I get the feeling he might be able to kick all our asses.

Alex.

Bottom line is I don't know all the guys but there's lots out there and it would be good to have a large meet and greet at a place like Bundang where there's trails for all and we can all figure out who's who.

It'll fit. Just smack it with a bigger hammer. That's what Brett
would do, and his mekaniking skills are legendary.

Hector, missed my long slide down the muddy slope, but it happened long
enough for me to think "Wow, I really amd sliding for a long time, YES"

Then the second time I went down in mud, the Koreans clapped.

Bought this Seat Post for 90,000 Won and it was slightly to big for my RM Slayer. It is Brand New and looking for a good home. 50,000 Won or best offer! Size is 27.2x330.
Also a good set of Time Atac MTB pedals with 3-5 Deg Float.

Subject: MTB Korea Free Clipless Pedals

Hello all,
I recently started riding with Eggbeater pedals and
I'm pretty satisfied. In the past I swore by Onza
pedals and they remained my favorite for 10 years. I
have 7 pairs!
I've decided to do some "spring cleaning" early this
year and I'm going to sell 4 sets.
I have 3 sets of pedals with chromo spindles and 1 set
with Ti spindles. (4 pairs total) Unfortunately, I
only have 5 cleats, 2.5 sets. There are some extra
elastamers too. 6 extra sets of black (firm release),
6 sets of gray (easy release), 4 sets of clear (super
easy release)
These would be super pedals for anyone wanting to try
clipless for their first time because they have plenty
of float and they release very easily, sometimes too
easily.
Selling Price: 0 won
Buy one pair you can get the second one for 50% off!
JT

Bought this Seat Post for 90,000 Won and it was slightly to big for my RM
Slayer. It is Brand New and looking for a good home. 50,000 Won or best
offer! Size is 27.2x330.

Also a good set of Time Atac MTB pedals with 3-5 Deg Float.

Hello all,

I recently started riding with Eggbeater pedals and
I'm pretty satisfied. In the past I swore by Onza
pedals and they remained my favorite for 10 years. I
have 7 pairs!

I've decided to do some "spring cleaning" early this
year and I'm going to sell 4 sets.

I have 3 sets of pedals with chromo spindles and 1 set
with Ti spindles. (4 pairs total) Unfortunately, I
only have 5 cleats, 2.5 sets. There are some extra
elastamers too. 6 extra sets of black (firm release),
6 sets of gray (easy release), 4 sets of clear (super
easy release)

These would be super pedals for anyone wanting to try
clipless for their first time because they have plenty
of float and they release very easily, sometimes too
easily.

Selling Price: 0 won
Buy one pair you can get the second one for 50% off!

JT

Hey All,

I am in the same boat as Alex, the climbers came up
with the Meet and Greet first and it will be warmer
futher south so that is the direction that I will be
heading maybe later in the season. Have not met any
of you yet as far as I know but look foward to doing
so in the future if the rides are half as fun as the
emails are to read. It should be some good rideing.

Talk at you later

From the Hump

Mike

PS what is the OD Marathon it sounds like
touturous(SP?) fun...

Hello Tom & Jerry,

I`m sorry but I can not ride on Saturday morning, because I have to work.

Anyway for extra event I can take day off.

I prefer to start Sunday morning and to finish by noon.

Please let me know.

I hope to see you soon .

There are others who prefer Sundays to Saturdays and others who ride both days.  Personally, I like Sunday morning since there is no traffic and less hikers on the trails. I can get quite far from Seoul and back by noon. I tend to move too early for most folks but perhaps it fits your style too.

We need to have a large group ride at Bundang to kick off the season and get everyone acquainted.  Bundang is a good place for riders of all abilities to figure out which group suits them best. HOW ABOUT A LARGE GROUP RIDE AT BUNDANG ON 11 MARCH? It would also be good for those interested in the OD Bike Marathon to meet and figure out how to push each other a little.

Pierre

Are you only available to ride on Sundays?  Most of our group rides
are on Saturdays.  We meet at 9:00 am now, but will start earlier as
the weather warms up.  We usually get back to Seoul around 4 or 5 in
the afternoon.  It's an all day thing, but that's because we usually
have about an hour drive to and from our riding location, and
because we sit around and bullshit for an hour or two after the ride
is over.

No, I have to be a notional S-4 for a notional exercise that should be
over by Friday night, but may not be if they can not conduct all of
their notional training in time.

Alex.

Look in "Database" on the MTBK homepage. There's a file for signing up
for the 2006 Season Kick Off Ride and BBQ. If you are going to
participate, please put your name on the list and answer the really
simple questions.

Please do not just show up expecting to be taken care of if you don't
even have the common courtesy to let us know that you'll be there so we
can be properly prepared.

This list thing also lets all of us keep track of who isn't on the list
and pester them until they are.

(And it saves me from having to keep track like I have in the past.
I'm getting old and forgetfull and it's just too much of a burden on me
to keep up with this stuff.)

I'm bringing 8 of the folks from my office (with a company vehicle)
and am volunteering to lead the beginner/out of shape/slow/laid
back/built for comfort (pick one) group to do all three mountains
(allowing anyone who desires to bail at the end of any portion with
instructions on how to find the parking lot). And the beer and food
will remain locked up in Clifford the BRT until I finish riding, so
there!

I guess sign up has started and end around noon on 10 March, so that
we can have an fairly accurate headcount for food and drink. We
won't run out, I just don't want to end up with all the perishable
leftovers that I always end up taking home.

two of Scandinavian riders (Norwegian and Swedish) who were at Horse
Mountain and a couple of other rides last year. Then there's some of
the other new riders I haven't met yet like the French guy and
Puerto Rican. And then there's Uriah Crew from Humphreys, the Osan
crew, Ben Slack, Alex......, Paul Choi and Mr. Han and KN guys that
theye know, and also Mr. Lim's crew, and of course Monique and the
unknown other girl rider; and the regular crew who tune into MTBK and
show up at every opportunity. Maybe the Filth would lower themselves
to join us too.

Tom and Jerry,

A ride and a BBQ in Bundang sounds a great way to kick off the new season.

See you March 11(?).

OK.  Let's see if we can stir up a big turnout.  I'll try to get the new Canadian/Barbadian couple out there.  Dana is a beginner and I'll need to scare up a bike for her but Chris is experienced and could turn out to be a strong rider.  I'll get him on my hardtail.  I also have another older US rider who just got a mountain bike but is a strong road rider that I want to bring out. I'd like Tom2 to get a hold of ....... I can't think of his name at the moment.... (KN rider who did endo on steps at Horse Mountain last fall and then broke his collarbone road riding.) It would be good to get in touch with the two of Scandinavian riders (Norwegian and Swedish) who were at Horse Mountain and a couple of other rides last year. Then there's some of the other new riders I haven't met yet like the French  guy and Puerto Rican.  And then there's Uriah Crew from Humphreys, the Osan crew, Ben Slack, Alex......, Paul Choi and Mr. Han and KN guys that theye know, and also Mr. Lim's crew, and of course Monique and the unknown other girl rider; and the regular crew who tune into MTBK and show up at every opportunity. Maybe the Filth would lower themselves to join us too.

Bottom line is I don't know all the guys but there's lots out there and it would be good to have a large meet and greet at a place like Bundang where there's trails for all and we can all figure out who's who.

I withdraw my objection.  Bundang on March 11th with a kick-off bbq
is the plan.
