OK, what I meant by the armpits reference was just the fact that half
the 'dogs' we see in Seoul are of the overgrown rat type, with beady,
malevolent little eyes, that we can often see lurking in the
protective arms of young women on the subway.
I'm sure you've all seen what I'm referring to, the kind of
weasel-like creature that would freak out and probably die instantly
if its paws were to ever actually touch the ground.
And vegetarianism is all good and well (and we probably do eat too
much meat), but evolutionary scientists, anthropologists and other
experts generally agree that if we'd stuck with eating nuts and fruits
a few million years ago we'd still be up in the trees.
One final note. I did read an article last year about a former German
guy, and now Korean citizen, who is a self-appointed good will
ambassador for the Korean dog meat industry. He claimed many butchers
are moving away from the more brutal methods of killing and adopting a
more Western approach. So these days, he says, many butchers are
trying to minimize pain and fear in the dogs so as to reduce levels of
foul-tasting adrenilin.
I've got to agree with point that Tom made once ( I think). It's just
weird eating meat that eats meat.
