Re: [mowind] Alum Creek Windsurf Regatta May 2 and 3 is on ....

I plan on being at Alum Creek and enjoying this event, which I have gone to, since the early 1980's (though not every year).

Scott - Thanks for bringing an extra prodigy to encourage someone to try a hybrid or simply just try racing. That is a great thing!

I'll join.
I'll bring at least one extra reasonably competitive or possibly very competitive long board and rig if someone wants to try racing a longboard.

Please forward the event details to other windsurfer's you know!

Indy and Kentucky - you guys fast?

I left a phone message this last weekend for Alum Creek race organizer Paul Sandstrom and he got back a day later with a message on my phone saying yes his Alum Creek Regatta May 2,3 2009 regatta is a go.

Last year in 2008 it was rainy and not fit for ducks and yet we still got like 19 people on the start line early Sat morning. I hope to see everyone there last year come back along with some new people. If you haven't been to the Alum Creek regatta lately know that the regatta location is now at the state park marina facility. There is even a small restaurant there that usually opens that weekend where you can get a pancake or burger. The state park campground is a mile away just up the road for anyone that wants to camp out in a tent or car overnite.

If the weather forecast is good I hope to head down and get a bit of warm water sailing in on Friday afternoon May 1st at the marina. The waters on mama Erie are still like 50 degrees though on the high deck of Prodigy I seldom even get my feet wet anyway. Know that Alum Creek / Columbus waters are usually a dozen degrees if not more warmer this time of year than Erie. That's one big reason to head down and check it out. Even if you don't plan to race show up, socialize and do some fun sailing.

Talking about the Mistral Prodigy One Design Class ... I do plan to bring a 2nd Prodigy for demo use to all the events I get to this season. If anyone wants to race it for one morning or afternoon session you can provided you furnish your own race rig of course. If you know anyone that's been wanting to try a hybrid board please pass the information along and have them give me an email. We need more big board sailors! shaas@...
