*NEWS RELEASE*
Dryden wins 2010 Canadian Master's Windsurfing Championship bid!
DRYDEN, ON - In our ongoing efforts to promote Dryden as
a "recreation destination" Northwest Ontario Windsurfing (NOW)is
pleased to announce that Dryden has secured the 2010 Canadian
Master's Windsurfing Championships for Aug 6-9 during our Centennial
week long celebrations.
Securing the 2010 Windsurfing Championship'
the 2010 winter Olympics held in Vancouver being the reason. All
National level events were supposed to go to British Columbia to
compliment the Olympics', but with hard work from our dedicated
group of windsurfer's in the area, we managed to sway the vote of
the Master's Committee to have Dryden, in its Centennial year, be
host to the Canadian Master's Windsurfing Championship'
process has been over 2yrs in the works, so we are thrilled to say
the very least with news from the CMWA (Canadian Master's
Windsurfing Association) that we did in fact get the bid to host.
NOW is currently organizing a team to show the country that Dryden
is a top-notch recreation destination. Dryden is getting a very good
reputation in the windsurfing community for hosting fun and
competitive events. Last year, John Darling, the President of
Windsurf Canada attended our Moosefest regatta, and was very
impressed with the event site of Sandy Beach and body of water of
Wabigoon Lake. We believe this was our `foot-in-the-
the 2010 Championship'
We can expect upwards of 100 competitors doing battle on the water's
of Wabigoon Lake. The Master's Championships will have classes for
all levels of windsurfing ability, but only gold fleet racers will
be scored for the actual Championship. This event will attract some
of the very best athletes from Canada and the Midwest USA.
'NOW' is dedicated to promote windsurfing, and healthy living
through wind power related activities
