I can do the brief version,
Bradford Beach: Light winds prevailed. Larry Reed and Woody brought
formula boards and may have been planing a few times. Jeff got in 8
races and a long distance over the two days. Don Altmeyer led the way
on Saturday. Lake Michigan had some large swells that made starting
difficult and could make you seasick if you sat down too long.
On Sunday there was barely any wind and Kevin Gratton started us off
with a downwind "rowing" pumping lesson on the shore. We got off to a
10:30 start and pumped our way around a short gate course several
times. Woody decided to rig a 8.2 and use an Equipe for the day.
He was competitive with Don and Peter in the pumpathon. For the long
distance race I managed to finish second behind Don.
It was nice to get in some races both days and the longboards proved
that you can still race in low-to-no wind.
Menominee: Saturday the winds were 5-10 and we got in 3 races. The
big sails ruled. Don A. and Mike Reed had 10.5s, and Kathy and Blaise
had 9.3s Tim Cleary tried out a Div2 style board with a 8.5 Prodigy
sail and did pretty well.
Sunday had been forecast 15-25 but was later downgraded to 10 and
ended up slightly faster that the day before. The big sails were
again fast and the limited fleet struggled to keep up, though we had
some good battles among ourselves. Roman Kaplan sailed well in that
division.
In Menominee all of our races were one lap, so I grouped the scores
into three categories, Unlimited, Limited, and Sport.
