The next event in the MOWIND tour is the Bradford Beach Jam in
Milwaukee July 27-29. As was the case last year, this event is as
much about promoting windsurfing as it is about racing. The
Bradford Beach Jam is held at a beautiful beach downtown Milwaukee
with a commanding view of the downtown skyline. The beach is shared
with events ranging from beach volleyball, beach rugby and beach
soccer, to BMX biking, skateboarding and even beach wrestling
(ouch...) This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy our sport while
introducing it to athletes from other sports and a large audience of
spectators.
Friday afternoon and evening we will run fun races and freestyle
events (wind permitting) to draw attention to the sport. Last year
we had a race with one board/sail towing a board in a team racing
event around a course. Hoping to do more of this, and possibly some
windsurfing soccer this year. On shore, local media will be
recording all the festivities.
Saturday and Sunday will be course, slalam and distance racing,
depending on the weather. Last year those that came to the race
will remember we got in 3 races Saturday morning before the wind
absolutely shut down, but I think all will agree that the events on
shore that afternoon left no room for disappointment! In the
evening at the nearby Summerfest grounds German Fest will be
underway.
If you have any questions after reading the notice of race, please
contact me through this group and I'll answer questions for all.
Appreciate anything you can do to help get the word out!
