Is there anyone else here following the French open closely? I've been hooked
since day 1.
I just remembered Monica's own struggles on the tour when I saw a match on TV
between Rezai of France and De Brito of Portugal. Anyway the Portuguese teenager
was screaming like mad with each shot she made and Rezai complained about it to
the umpire. De Brito fired back by asking the umpire if he had ever told
Sharapova to stop screaming. Anyway De Brito lost and made a half-hearted
handshake across the net to Rezai after the match, receiving loud boos from the
crowd as a result. I thought it was so 1992, so Nathalie Tauziat (lol) !
Anyway, who are your favorites? My prediction is Safina for the women and Nadal
for the men, although I am wishfully thinking Federer will lift the trophy for
the first time. With all the attention focusing on a possible Nadal-Djokovic
final, I am hoping Federer will slide under the radar to crawl into a 4th
straight final with Nadal.
Three players who hit with two hands off both sides - Diatchenko, Santoro and
Bartoli - have lost. I was rooting for them. They remind me a lot about Seles.
Won't Monica even consider playing one more match like Kimiko Date in the
Australian open? She looks fit and she'd probably win a couple of rounds. That
would be nice. The two handers are a dying breed :)
