Monica Seles refuses to rule out a comeback despite not having played
competitively for over two years.
The 31-year-old, who has nine Grand Slam singles titles, was honoured
for her career by Tennis Canada in Toronto on Monday.
"I don't believe in official retirement," she said. "Once you retire,
you really want to be retired. I don't feel that I'm at that stage
yet."
Seles admitted that she would only consider a return to action if she
felt she could get back into the top 10.
"I would like to make sure that I could play at that level," she
said. "I think you have to be realistic about that."
Her last competitive match was a 6-4 6-0 defeat to Nadia Petrova in the
first round of the 2003 French Open.
