Dear Seles fans!
We have been getting mostly negative information on a possible come
back of Monica Seles. Still, we remain hopeful that the once dominant
WTA player will step back on court to show us all those fiercesome
groundstrokes that used to make friend and foe shiver.
Monica Seles has said that January 2005 will be D-Month. She will
then effectively decide whether to continue playing tennis on a
professional level or not. She is still working out as we speak and
the sky seems to be brightening up but remaining cautious seems to be
the right attitude to ascertain.
A week ago, Monica Seles turned 31, an age when most professional
tennis players have already decided to retire. But she has missed a
great many years on Tour because of the stabbing incident, the
psychological problems that resulted from it and the injuries she
suffered during the last 6 to 7 years. Justice would be served if she
could just return once more to give it all and then say goodbye to a
world she has lived for so many years.
This Yahoo!Group (formerly eGroup) has been online for almost 6 years
now and has brought together fans from all over the world. Though
activity has recently slumped, some 430 people are still subscribed
to the biggest Seles Yahoo!Group. 4,405 messages have been posted the
last 6 years, make that 4,406. About 80 people, still subscribed
today, joined us back in 1999. Thank you for your confidence!
We hope that this group will survive the coming years when our hero
won't be playing tennis professionally anylonger. But Seles fans are
die-hard and I'm sure you'll jump in from time to time to check for
news on Monica. As long as this service is offered, we will remain
online.
Kind regards
Tom Haegemans
