1. Bike Breakfast 25th October
The second last bike breakfast for 2006 will be held on Wednesday 25th
October between 7.30 and 10am. Remember, no helmet, no food. Keep up
your Ride to Work day form and cycle in to campus!

2. Cycle for Sustainability
On November 12 the Cycle for Sustainability (C4S) crew will be riding in
to Melbourne via the Warburton trail and we are organising a
"coincidence" ride to bring them in. The project, whose core riders
include the famous Anthony Davidson and Angela Jones, has been
successful thus far in that it has been well received by the schools it
has visited and well-covered by the local media on their way through.
For more about the project, go to www.sustainia.org.au.
The plan is to ride out Saturday, stay at the same caravan park housing
the rest of the crew and ride in 'en masse' on Sunday. Please contact me
if you want any further information.

3. The Bikery at the Market
You may have noticed we have a new bike mechanic! Dhugal is running a
bike maintenance stall at the market on Wednesdays, so come and see him
if your bike is in need of a little TLC. Of course, we still have Rob in
the MSA Transport Office until the end of October. We are still selling
cheap second hand bikes and bits from the Transport Office, if you need
something, come and see us.

4. What's happening with the MSA Transport Office?
Under the new VSU legislation, the MSA now receives considerably less
funding. Unfortunately, this means cutbacks, and it appears those
cutbacks are The Bikery and bike related positions. So, in 2007, this
means no bike breakfasts, no cheap second hand bikes and no accessories
and parts on campus. If you value these services, let us know. We would
love volunteers to help keep this service running in the future. Rob
Prain, Ian Adams, Jim Black, myself and the Transport Office have put a
lot of work into making The Bikery a viable service. The groundwork has
been done, and it would be very disappointing to watch it disappear now.
Ultimately, we want to convince the MSA or the University that this is a
service worth funding into the future.

5. North Rd bike path
To finish on a positive note, VicRoads are funding the North Rd bike
path!! This is an off-road bike path which will run between Huntingdale
Station and Clayton Rd. It is a victory for all those who worked with
VicRoads to make this an attractive project, Ian Adams, Rob Prain, Jim
Black and others. Congratulations! Work is due to start early next year
and will be completed mid 2007.
