2.. Cycle for sustainability

***************************************************************
1. The first bike breakfast of semester will be on Wednesday 26th July,
7.30-11am on the lemon-scented lawns outside building 63. Don't forget
your helmets!

2. Cycle for sustainability (apologies to those receiving this twice)

After a highly successful campaign last year we are sending this invitation
for you to be a part of Cycle for Sustainability 2006!

In 2005 a team of 10 individuals with a passion for sustainable living came
together to deliver an education campaign to inspire and engage school
groups and the broader community on issues and actions toward
sustainability. Over 5 months we cycled more than 4500km between Brisbane
and Hobart, performing a comical skit to 3000 school students and hosting
many public information stalls.

This year the education journey will commence in mid August in Sydney and
finish in Hobart in mid December. We are now building the team for 2006 and
there are many opportunities for you to contribute or get involved, such as:

- Join as a core team rider, an exciting opportunity to develop your
community education and team building skills and work with others
who are
passionate about sustainable living.
- For those with less time to spare, join the action as a stage rider
for two weeks or more.
- Apply your passion for sustainability education to help develop a
range of education and curriculum materials.
- Contribute content for our evolving website.
- Join our mailing list to receive inspiring project updates,
'Postcards from the road'.
- SLF home base support – we are also looking for a dedicated
individual to provide home base support with the SLF team. This would
involve some volunteer work either at the SLF office in Melbourne
and/or at
home, assisting the road team with liaising with schools, community
groups
and identifying media opportunities.

Being involved in this project is your chance to inspire others and 'be the
change you wish to see in the world' (Gandhi).
