Ladies & Gentlemen,
While not quite along the normal lines of postings for this group I thought this
might be interest to some. If you've heard of this through other means my
apology for the cross posting.
The opportunity described below has arisen at very short notice and
I personally think it will act as a tangible demonstration and a highly visible
symbol both to the University and wider community of Monash's commitment to
sustainability.
In addition, the event runs during Monash Sustainability month, which highlights
the University's commitment to sustainability in education, practice and
research.
Event: The Future Spark Team Challenge
------------------------------------------
is a competition event during the week leading up to Earth Hour
on Saturday 28th March to generate the electricity to ensure that Melbourne's
Earth Hour concert at Federation Square is energy neutral.
It comprises teams who will cycle against each other on stationary bikes, for a
duration of approx. 45 min, with the aim of generating and returning power to
the grid.
Monash is planning on having two teams who will all be participating wearing the
TeamMONASH (2008) colours. (Additional information on the event is available
on-line at http://www.futurespark.com.au/about-future-spark)
The goals of the Monash teams are threefold:
1 - Ensure we have a team of university staff and students
2 - Generate as much media coverage (internal and external) as
possible
3 - Win the power production challenge!
Allotted times for the two groups are:

TEAM 2

There are still a couple of places not yet filled on TEAM 2 so if you are

soon as possible.
