| Notes: | What is Ride to Work Day? It is a countrywide campaign sponsored by various bicycle groups across Australia aiming at encouraging commuters to cycle to work. This year it will be held on 15 October (Wednesday), where registered participants ride their bike full-way or partway to work or study in the morning and enjoy some free, refreshing breakfast at the destinations. More information can be obtained at http://www.bv.com.au/join-in/126/. What’s in it for me? There is a myriad of benefits of riding to work, including better health, saving costs or even time on traffic. Last by not least, it reduces greenhouse gas emissions and thereby helps combat climate change. Monash has been a keen participant of Ride to Work Day in the past and encourages all its staff and students to get involved and experience cycling to work – its good for your health, for your community and for your environment. Free breakfast will be provided across all six Victorian campuses and the Alfred Medical Research & Education Precinct (AMREP) throughout the morning so come along, try something new and share a great breakfast and some new experiences. How does it work? This event runs in teams, where people from the same workplace take part under one banner. One team at each of the seven workplace locations has already been created. All Monash university staff, or students at these locations are welcome to join their team – simply go to https://ride2work.bv.com.au/event and register your detail ALONG WITH THE CORRESPONDING TEAMCODE as shown above (please DO NOT create a team of your own, as this will whittle down the total number of participation at each site): Further information You’ll get some tips and information closer to the day delivered to the email address you provide during registration. For any enquiries, please email to environment@... So sign up and spread the word! See you on the day! | |
