I was involved in the breakfasts (set ups - funding) but they were

I didn't know about.
I'll do my best to be there ,next week but will have to leave by
4:30pm due to a family commitment, wish I'd known about the
meeting yesterday. :'(
Cheers

In reply to David Pawley, yeah sorry this meeting was only organized
on the day as a response to a bunch of people being interested from
the environmental group. But everyones invited to come next.
The university itself has plans for a bike shop. From what I hear from
Mat the president of MSA, the university wants to convert the banquet
area in the middle of the campus centre bottom floor to a computer lab
and fit a bike shop in there as well. It would be staffed by a
permanent person which would ruin the cheap parts and repairs that
students can currently get from the Bikery, but all this stuff is
still very tentative and the Bikery is worth keeping up.
As an example, I opened for 2 hours this Tuesday and sold 120 dollars
worth of stuff. This included a whole second hand wheel with tyres for
15 dollars, one side of a V-Brake for 3 dollars, a few lights and a
few pumps and countless free repairs.
If you went to a bike shop, any of those repairs or parts would've
cost you 50 bucks. The students that come to the bike shop, especially
the foreign ones can't afford more than a few dollars. In fairness
most of their bikes are either 20yrold 10speeds or 100 dollar k-mart
bike, neither of which warrant a 50 dollar stem, or 20 dollar bar tape.
