1. Bike breakfast
Sorry for the delay folks, but I will be organising another bike
breakfast for WEDNESDAY 31st MAY, 7.30am - 11am. Venue; lemon-scented
lawns, north side of the union building. Requirements; helmet to prove
you rode in! No helmet, no food.
As always, volunteers are needed. Please email me if you can lend a hand.

2. Melbourne Ride of Silence
Saturday May 20, 2006
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
This event does not repeat.
Event Location: Federation Square - Refer Flyer in Files section
Notes:
Melbourne cyclists will assemble at 10am, Saturday 20th May at
Federation Square. They will ride via the Melbourne CBD to Parliament
House for a dignified gathering, with celebrity speeches, media and
interviews. Simon Gillett will be present at the Melbourne Ride of
Silence. In July 2005, a horrific road accident in Germany killed his
wife Amy Gillett-Safe and left five of her Australian cycling teammates
badly injured. All of Australia grieved with Simon and also with her
family and friends.

3. Meeting our transport challenges
Anyone who would like to view the State Governments policy for transport
over the next 10 years can go to this website

Pages 18 and 55 relate to bikes. The goverment has dedicated $135
million to improving bike paths, however, there is no detail on how that
funding is to be allocated. Wait and see.

4. The Bikery news
The bike mechanic, Tom McEndrick has
been offered a job producing on-line video for The Age/Fairfax and will
be leaving us in 3 weeks. The
good news is that he will be replaced by Rob Prain, who has been around
the transport office for years, so bike repairs will still be happening.
Also, we have just placed an order for rain jackets for the upcoming
winter. These will probably sell for around $50 each and will probably
be in stock in around 2 weeks time, so if
you need something to keep you dry, warm and visible while you are
cycling this winter, come in and see us!

5. McBUG website
Yet another change to the bike network email list!
The McBUG website is here;
http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/monashunibug/
Please join if you want to participate in online discussions, view
calenders for upcoming events, get reminders for important events like
free breakfasts :-) and get access for useful links and photos.
I also have an email list for distribution of regular (monthly) bike
bulletins. Please let me know if you find yourself on both lists!
